On the main evening news tonight the uk, they talked about leaked emails between the british foreign office, that decided not to mention the 9 murders in the last 18 months too prominently on their website in case it affected Thailands tourist trade. Then they spoke to some idiot travel agent who said he would have a sleepless night if his daughter said she was going there on holiday. I hope there are no more incidents for a while or the press will blow it right up. I think thailand is a lot safer than the uk. Within 2 miles of my house in glasgow, someone was murdered and someone kneecapped within 2 days last week. Its the murder capital of europe. The foreign office doesnt say that on its website either.

Were the murders in Glasgow connected with tourism?

I doubt it. So statements such as, "I think thailand is a lot safer than the uk." have little basis in reality.

If there were 9 tourists murdered in the UK in the last eighteen months plus liberal reports of attack, including rapes, your statement would have some creedence.

Keep your wits about you wherever you go.

Just got back to Scotland from pattaya. I guess the neighborhood youth missed me while I was gone and decided to break both wing mirrors off my car and my rear wiper and kick a nice big dent in my door. Its got nothing to do with murders but makes me think about crime and the flaunting of wealth around pattaya with old men walking around covered in gold that would make Mr. T jealous. Suprised crimes not worse there.
