Visiting end Sept - early October

I have been to Pattaya 3 times previously in February/ March. My girlfriend wants me to visit for her birthday at the end of September. I am put off from that time as it appears to be the time of the highest rainfall, is it too big a drawback and restricting of activities or is just short heavy downpours usually. Be grateful for observations from people who have visited mid September to early October. Thai Rob

no problem Rob, right it is gonna rain but it´s maby for an hour or two a day and you can always seek schelter in a bar

If its raining hard that just a good excuse to stay in the room and shag the girlfriend. It warm that time of the year so the rain shouldn't be a problem, carry a small collapseable umbrella. Think of it being Songkran but with clean water and no powder.

 

She wants you there for her birthday and a nice gold present.

I have been twice in october. it does rain quite a few days but only for an hour maybe less then stop and sun back out in seconds red hot so even if you got wet you would be dry within minutes

Oct. is my favorite time to visit, by the way. It's warm in the morning, with clear skies mostly. By the time it starts getting too hot, you get an afternoon rainshower. Then it's a bit cooler as you head towards dusk. Also, lots of the girls are back in town, but high season is still 3 weeks away = less punters and more BGs. Works for me.

I love the rainy season. The weather is cooler and it only rains for about an hour per day. However, it can get very heavy at times and cause flooding.

The best thing I like about the rainy season is the lack of tourists and lower hotel prices and airfare plus tons of bar girls per punter.

9-04 sitting in the beer bar complex just before Walking Street and all of a sudden several Thai's start hauling sandbags and lining the entrance to the bar. Short time later it is raining - HARD - and the sandbags did little to keep out the floods.

 

Still had a fantastic time sitting on the bar stool with water knee deep throughout the bar complex.

 

Not every night and it is all taken in stride. Have a good time - I returned last September without a day of rain in a week and a half. But a couple of days after I left - huge rain and floods. You never know and it doesn't really matter.

I've been there in mid Oct and although it rains and sometimes a little flooding, it was no way near the flooding disaster in Chiang Mai last Sept. when I was there--it was so bad it looked like New orleans after the hurricaine--dont know if CM floods like this every year.

So after leaving CM, even with the rain in Pattaya, it was still manageable if U remember to wear sandals (not sneakers and shoes) and shorts and an umbrella at all times.
