USA East coast to BKK

Recommended Posts

Greetings all, I'm planning my first trip to LOS for October/November 2006 and I'm thinking of booking flight soon before the gas prices soar.

I'm seeing a lot of reasonable prices but the best are transfers to Korean airlines in Korea or China Air in Taiwan. Has anyone flown this route and have opinions ? And or can anyone from the US east coast give me some input on the best route to go? Any and all help appreciated.

Thai has fares around $1080 from JFK-BKK non stop for your time frame. I've flown this flight and it a couple of cuts above UA & NWA. UA is OK to fly as I use them as my primary carrier. Cathay Pacific is another carrier I've flown and they are good.

One time they didnt pay for de-icing service in Japan for winter time and we sat sat sat at the terminal almost a riot because other flights were leaving.. Cheap f...s

Great advice...thanks guys.

Going to book tonight because I've already seen a few fares go up. Had one I was looking at on Thai for $1188 or so and checked it the next day the fare jumped to $4000. Thought I did something wrong and checked again and still 4k. :bhappy

Probably because all the cheap seats are gone and all that is available is the business class seats.

Book from the Thai Air website and if the price or flight is not what you want simply change the day. The direct flight is not every day of the week. Thurs, Sat, and maybe one more day, I can't remember exactly.

You WILL find the flight for less than 1050.00

When you get to JFK ask about a possible upgrade for 200 bucks each way. If you are not a big guy and/or can get a decent seat you might not want to spend the money. If you will be stuck in the middle of the center section, then go for the upgrade.

Yeah, good luck with that! I"m leaving LATE June on THAI and paying $1500+ (and I bought my ticket a couple of months ago). Only hope is for canellations to free up some seats. Buy Why it's busy in June/July I'm not sure. kids out from school are not going to BKK with their families. And besides, I thought DEC/JAN was high season? $1378 is the best I see from JFK to BKK on Emirates in Late June. (no beer for me). <grin

June 9-20th NS on Thai from JFK for $1259 all in? Does that count?

Thanks for confirming what I thought.

I have been looking exhaustively on all the websites (angeltravel, etc) I know of, but broke down and booked my mother on the direct JFK-Thai exec economy last week - about $1,800. Plus another $120 for jet blue from boston.

If it was the beginning of June, which doesn't work for us, Angel had a deal for $1,200 for the exec economy from JFK.

I was hoping to use my 130K NWA miles for a business seat for her, but no luck.

Summer travel is always the highest prices no matter where you are travelling to. The airlines have figured out when kids are out of school (dont forget all them college kids 18-21) that are free of school that all want to travel alone or with friends, I notice most people forget about them and only remember (family with "kids")> This along with alot more people are on vacations schedules from work during summer months and its "peak" time for airlines. Sometimes its as much to travel summer as for Christmas.

it's May 3 just booked today Ft Lauderdale to bangkok may 16-june 16 for $978 round trip including taxes and surr.

from : justfairs.com talk to Ammee 866 676-7340 also connections not bad tell him you talked to Alex. Also if you are going to do this more than once join: asiamiles.com After being in pattaya I am going to move there, you will see when you go. Don't cary to much cash. What I did is open a new bank account with a debit card. There are ATM's all over the place and my bank only charged me $1.50 per trans. the ATM nothing just as long as debt card is a visa or master card. I opened 2 accounts and put $1,000 in each, make sure you tell your bank not to clear any trans. when you reach 0. and this will limit you exposure if you get off. I got 9,999 bhat each time and that was enough for a couple of days. Also I found on the internet a water bottle that was a safe it has water in the top and bottom and comes apart to hold some cash. So have a nice trip.
