How much to survive

Recommended Posts

This is a honest request for advice.

I just had a serious argument with my wife of 18 years. I said I will move to Pattaya. The problem is, when she is finished skinning me, Iwill have about Bt 3m left. How long can I survive. Remember I will not be a Tourist and go out evey night to look for pussy. I need a small flat to work my computer, and also don't want to be too far from the action.

Any honest suggestions woudls be much appreciated. Maybe tomorrow everythng may be ok, but I still would like to know what independence cost in LOS

If you even think that divorce is a possibility she should already be started with liquidation and hiding as much of your funds as possible. Yuo think right now that you will have about 3m baht left but don't count on it. By the time the lawyers are finished you will be lucky to have anything.

It's really entirely up to you. At what standard of living will you exist? And, at what ever level that is, be it one year or ten, what will you do when the money runs out?

And how will it feel when you start singing the Mr. No Money 'n No Honey blues?

You didn't mention how old you are. If you are a long ways from getting some sort of pension the three million baht won't last nearly long enough. Protect your pension if you have one and get ready to get skinned alive. Staying married would more than likely be the best bet. If you stay married put as much as possible in a pension plan and try to keep it hidden from your wife.

I live on 20,000 baht a month and Alan quoted his costs at I believe 80,000 Baht a month and Torranova if I am correct at 100/120,000 a month.

This will have a different answer for very guy.

Do a search for posts by BM Owen he is spot on with his posts regarding Retirement here in Pattaya.

Every location has different rules on how long you must have been married for your ex to get your retirement and how much of it she gets.

Don't fuck around on this. If you must go the divorce route, hire the meanest, nastiest SOB you can find.

I went into my divorce expecting to walk away with just about everything(I had paid off all of her medical bills, the car, that she had not been making full payments on, etc, etc), after all none of it was hers to start with. WRONG!!!!!! The first clue was when the judge said "I don't care if you think your inherintence is yours, as far as I am concered it is community property". If(yea I know) I had known Thailand then I would have been on the next plane out with my 1/4milusd. I had to file bankruptcy to stop the blood letting.

Hide your money, and run Forest, run!
