Hi,

Haven't stayed there but have met many couples who stayed there and have always got very good reports of the place. It seems a nice place as I've passed by it a few times.

Where exactly is the Woodlands? My first response from Expedia.com with airfare and hotel was Woodlands, but I balked thinking since that was the cheapest it must not be very good. But now I'm wondering If I made a mistake. How far is Woodlands Resort from Walking Street? Baht Bus reachable? Comfort/beauty of hotel site? Sorry I can't add to this threat, but all I have is QUESTIONS!!!

thank you. I have contacted them with various questions. When they get back to me I will tell all

Hi,

If memory serves makavelli is attached and you are a monger. Think it is not really a mongers place.

Woodlands is TOTALLY family oriented. If you are taking wife/children, OK.

They do not want bar ladies at the Woodlands. I am not sure, but the last I heard they are totally prohibited. I know that in past years they wanted a 500b joiner fee each night you brought a lady in. Also, the lady had to leave early in the morning, and could not enjoy any of the hotel accomodations such as the restaurant, let alone the pool.

For a family, OK if you want to be in that part of town. For a monger, no way.

Hi, i stopped at the woodlands about 2 years ago, very nice hotel,

staff were very friendly and room service was excellent.

There was no problem in bringing bar girls back to the hotel, and there was no charge either, but things may have changed since then.

They could use all the facilities, pool, restaurant, etc, etc, i was on my own back then and was bringing a different girl back every night.

It has never changed. It's either a no bar girl or 500 baht joiner fee hotel.

Got to be the most girl unfriendly hotel in Pattaya.

Lovely if you are with the wife though. Nice place to stay but expensive and not that good. East Sea Resort is better next door.

Not cheap either, far better and superior accomodation freely available, cannot really understand why any monger would even consider this type of rip off place! :chogdee2 :3some :clap1

I stayed there in April 2005, had booked 14 nights. Checked out in the morning of day two after bringing back a guest and having to pay 800B. Not recommended unless a family holiday.

Incidentally i had been givenadvice from this board not to book, and had chosen to ignore it.

Big mistake

KingMonkey:

Thank you must have your hotels mixed up.

It is a known fact that the Woodlands does not want BG's brought to their hotel and if you are going to do this, it is going to cost you a joiner fee.

This is nothing new for this hotel and this policy has been in effect for the past several years that I am personally aware of. The Woodlands hotel has come up many times in the past several years on this as well as other boards and ALL replies have stated that a joiner fee is required.

I stayed there 7-years ago and a fee was required then. Rascall states that he was there in April 2005 and a joiner fee was required then. And, you state that you were there two years ago as well and no fee was required? Odd, wouldn't you say.

The Woodlands is a very nice hotel, foods good rooms are nice and probably worth its 4* rating. Its a bit away from Walking St but is on a baht bus route and within 10 mins walk of Big C. There are plenty of bars literally over the road from the hotel.

I have stayed there twice as part of a package and had been told it wasn't guest friendly. However, I told the agent upfront I wasn't paying a joiner fee and I never paid one any time.

I took many girls back as did my friends and only ever had one small problem because of what two of the girls were wearing - basically not alot.

They keep the girls cards overnight and hand them back when they leave, seeing the great wadge of ID cards security was choosing from, we were far from the only guests bringing girls back.

They are a family orientated hotel and if they can fill the hotel with families they will, however business is business and in low season ( I went in August both times) I had no problems and would recommend the place.

On the second trip the staff remembered us and seemed happy to see us again and went out of their way to be helpful. I was bringing short time girls in the afternoon and long time in the evening and had no problems.

My advice would be to point out that you will be bringing guests back and do not want to pay a joiner fee before you book.
