I have stayed many times at Sandy Spring but the rooms are getting a bit worn. How does Areca Lodge compare? Is there are any difference at Areca between Standard Room and Deluxe Seaview other than the view?

Dont think there is deluxe seaview at areca, but the difference between standard and deluxe, which is pool view, is that deluxe has an in-room safe instead of safety boxes at reception and they have tea/coffee making facilities.

dthomasss I have stayed at the Areca 3 times over the last 12 months and am booked in for my next 3 trips this year. The first couple of times I stayed in the executive suite @ 2500bht per night. The room was on the corner of the old building over looking the smaller pool. The small pool doesn't get the sun after about 1300 and as they are building the SOI DIANA INN extension across the road the site noise can be a pain. This part of the building unless I am wrong has mainly standard rooms with 1 executive on each floor.

The new wing which has been open for approx. 3 1/2 years has a mixture of standard and deluxe rooms and they all overlook the new larger pool at the back which gets the sun until it sets. The hotel has excellent staff and is fully geust friendly, even allowing them to eat breakfast no extra charge. The minibar is also reasonably priced compared to other hotels and there are 2 7/11's right opposite.

All in all there are cheaper hotels but I've always found this one to be fairly central and no hassle.

If you book via Asiarooms you will usually get a better rate than via the hotel and you also get secure online booking which is something the hotel doesn't have.

Sorry blacknight but i think you are wrong, both blocks have rooms facing a pool and also rooms facing away from the pools,to my knowledge all rooms in both blocks are deluxe and the others are standard with the exception as you say of one executive room per floor which on floor 3 of the front block is in the centre of the block and facing the pool.

I'm at the Areca right now...great place. Only complaint is there is no hot water for the bathroom sink. I just like hot water to shave, no big deal though. Great shower, plenty of water pressure and HOT.

yes that was my only complaint also,i resorted to getting water out of the bath tap via a glass.I cant understand the thinking behind only having cold water to the sink.

As I understand it, the only problem there is that you must pay for the entire stay in advance.

Otherwise, if you book directly with the hotel, the choice is between giving your cc info over the internet via email, or faxing them the information.

Has anyone had any problems sending their cc info via email to the Areca Lodge, and is it still a no-no to do this these days?

I have a fax machine, but I would prefer not to dig it out and hook it up, and I cannot do this from work.

Regards

Never Ever Fax your CC details or anyother personal stuff, as you never know who will see it.
