As I look at all the possible hotels in Pattaya and read through different boards, I am finding it so difficult to choose a hotel with the following:

1500-2000 BHT max during late January early February

no extra fee or hassle to bring overnight guests back (ID card ok of course)

Between North Pattaya Rd and South Pattaya Rd

A bed large enough for three people but not two twin beds pushed together (now is that optimism or what?)

AC

Room Safe

Not extremely noisy

Swimming Pool

American Breakfast would be nice

In room fridge would be excellent

I would appreciate your help. This will be the toughest decision for the whole trip.

Thanks all!

My suggestion - Mark-Land Hotel Soi 1

For the following reasons:

1) VERY GUEST FRIENDLY

2) Bed big enough for 3 (not two beds together)

3) Good size room with fair size refrigerator

4) Nice size bathroom with tub and shower head

5) American buffet breakfast included

6) Friendly staff

7) Onsite spa

8) Very nice pool area on fifth floor with beautiful view of Pattaya Bay

9) Beach is just across Beach Road

10) Quiet end of Pattaya

11) If you want beer bars, just walk up soi to 2nd Road. A whole new cluster of beer bars

12) Very near Sabiland for soapies

13) Very near Big C Mall

14) Beautiful glassed in restaurant on 27th floor. This is where they serve breakfast in the morning and it affords you a beautiful view of Pattaya from north to south. A great place to bring a companion to watch a sunset at happy hour. The restaurant is a very nice place for dinner at very reasonable prices. Fairly extensive menu of Thai and Western food.

15) One, if not the only, hotel that has a glass elevator that goes to the 27th floor. Many Thai ladies have never been in one and usually they grab a hold of you the first time.

16) A number of good restaurants right around the hotel.

17) Very easy to get Bahtbus to go down to Walking Street.

18) A nice easy walk to Soi 6

19) They have an exercise room

20) Every room has a balcony with a view of Pattaya Bay. Nice view for the ladies.

21) The air conditioning stays on without the key. Also, it works very good.

22) A number of currency exchange places very near.

23) Family Mart right at the end of the hotel driveway.

Contact the hotel or check their website for the rate at that time of the year.

I hope this helps.

I think that Diamond Beach hotel has all those things, and it's in a great Soi

For a first trip, I suggest one of the Soi 13 hotels. The location is central and it's a good starting point to explore areas you'll come to love. I prefer the Whitehouse Condotel out of all the hotels on Soi 13.

I'm also a big fan of the Bella Villa Prima on Soi 4. It'll take you a bit to get to Walking Street though. On the plus side it's a short walk to the soapies, Big C, and Soi 6.

I always stay at the Sunshine Vista. It meets all your criteria listed above plus there are a couple of laundries that do good (and cheap) work right across the street from the lobby. (the hotel laundry service is pricier) It's on a very quiet soi yet a short walk up the hill and you're at Big C, a short walk down the hill and you're on Beach Road ... go to the beach or grab a baht bus to Walking Street.

One drawback, they don't take credit cards for reservations so I make mine through Sawadee.com ... have never had a problem with the hotel or Sawadee.com.

Sunshine Vista

P.S. The rooftop pool (with bar) is GREAT!

I have to agree with that for first trip soi 13 is great

My choice will be Lek Hotel or Sandy Spring

Everyone, thanks so much. The recommendations you gave will help me narrow my search. Once I have the room choice made, the rest will be relatively simple, with the exception of getting my boss to let me take my vacation when I want it rather than when he wants me to take it. :bhappy But hey, I can always go sooner.

I would think if you book any of the hotels mentioned ( the Lek, or Areca Lodge, perhaps ) , for 3 nights, then look around for exactly what you want, where you want.

Should be no problem getting what you want, at that time of year.

I agree about the Soi 13 hotels, I haven't stayed at the Bella but I definitely went there as my friend was staying there and it was a very nice place.

At the Mark-Land there is no security check and you can come in the side from the parking structure and not go through the lobby.

There is a laundry service right across the soi.

Lek Hotel has security to check the girls I D and keep it and they will call you and ask you if every think is ok when the gilr leave the hotel but if you don`t like that you can use the gate at soi 13 or the gate at soi 12 because the hotel has three gates and the main one on second road and there is laundry just out the hotel at soi 12 , the hotel is very girl friendly it`s OK even if you bring three girls with you and you will not find any guest family in the hotel and the hotel has the cheapest mini bar i have ever seen , the room is large and clean and the cost of the standard room at new wing is 1000 B (low season ) just mail them and you will gate this rate

Lek Hotel

Hi,

Stayed at the RG 3 years ago, beds were big but 2 mattresses pushed together. Buggered my knee on the first night when they came apart. out of action 2 days. Also ordered a meal in room 10pc extra, came without cutlery or condiments, and was not very tasty. At the time you are going you could get a far better deal for half the price.

Cheers Doug.

Well, I've narrowed it down to the Lek Hotel & The Residence Garden.

I don't think I can go wrong with those.

personally, i would recommend the Lek. it is centrally located (more or less), walking distance to everywhere else or baht bus ride away. becareful of picoman - he seems to be down lately maybe because there was no saturday poll!
