If he's so focused on the property (since he used to own it) then maybe he can start stalking the new owners.

 

Sell it and find a new property and location you like even better.

Trust me son, I would not have any problem squeezing the trigger. When I was 16, in the USA, I heard something outside my window. Looked out the window and someone was trying to break into my car. Grabbed my loaded 12 gauge from the closet and snuck through the house and out the back door on the other side of the house. Popped around the side of the house and the guy took off running. Before he could get out of my yard I ripped of a shot and got him in the leg. I got a minor slap on the hand for firing a gun in city limits, but nothing for legging the dude since he was legally trespassing and the evidence on my car clearly showed he was trying to break in it.

 

Trust me, this guy shows up and skins that smoke wagon, I WILL TAKE HIM DOWN!

this kind of shit you dont need at any time of life, let alone if yourmoving somwat towards retirement

 

if your getting a 24/7 securuty gaurd why not continue to live there

I had forgotten this situation. I guess the board software changes is resurrecting some things.

 

My original two suggestions should still stand, and given talk of firearms, especially item #1, no alcohol permitted while carrying.

 

As for #2, selling it to someone else . . . I got no reason to want to bear bad news or good news and this is just perspective from one BM to another . . . so in general real estate is valued by And Only By the usual two criteria -- what someone is able to pay for it, and what someone is willing to pay for it.

 

If there are no willing and qualified buyers for it at a quoted price, then it's not worth that quoted price. Might be worth it next week, or next month, or even tomorrow, but if there is no one offering that price today, then that's not what it's worth today. When you find a price that generates an offer, then you have found the current value of the property at that moment. If your price is higher than that price, you are speculating that someone will show up willing to pay it. Might not happen.

 

You got a tough situation. My sympathy. I think your best solution is to be rid of that property. Hopefully you can be at an acceptable price.
