Sabai Lodge/Inn V Areca Lodge

Recommended Posts

Sabai Inn V Sabai Lodge ?

I know these hotels are owned by the same people and that if you stay in thr Inn you can use the Lodge pools etc.

But is the Sabai lodge a good location? girl friendly?an all round nice place to stay?? I prefer to stagger from my room to the pool, rather than cross a road!! I cant make my mind up wether to book the Sabai Lodge/Inn or the Areca Lodge :banghead Any opinions would be most welcome, coz I gotta do it soon.

Have stayed at Sabai Inn and Areca Lodge. Which is better will depend on what you regard as important.

Sabai at the North end of town - very convenient for Big C and the soapies, plenty of beer bars etc but not as convenient for Walking Street (but more convenient for Soi 6). Areca - easy walk down to Walking Street or up to Soi 7/8.

Quality of rooms about the same.

Sabai Inn about 750 baht, Areca about 1,100 baht.

Sabai Inn no pool (but there is use of another). Areca two good pools.

For me, it is a fine balance. Chose Sabai last time because of communication problems with the person at Areca - seemed to have poor grasp of English.

Sabai Lodge, Inn and Resort are in a good location in North Pattaya. All of them are near the necessities -- the big massage parlors, Soi 2 and 3 beer bars, and Big C mall. Baht buses run by every few seconds to take you to where you want to go.

The rooms are comfortable and a good value. I've stayed at the Lodge and Resort quite a few times and it seems I get a better price each time I stay there. The manager, Care, responds prompty to my emails. All hotels in the Sabai Group are very girl friendly.

I like this end of town. It's a little quieter than down south but still has plenty of options for entertainment. I wish they had internet connections or wifi in the rooms; they have only two computer terminals in the lobby (one at the Resort) and they charge you by the minute. Don't ask me how much, I forget.

I haven't stayed at the Areca but almost everyone I've talked to who's stayed there has recommended it. If you stay there you'll be right in the thick of things around Soi Buakow and LK Metro.

I don't think you can go wrong at either location. Depends on your personal preference.

I've stayed at the old wing of the Sabai Lodge (by the big pool) and didn't have any complaints. Look at it this way, you could have worse problems than sitting aroung the pool at the Sabai Lodge, sipping on a Heineken. Th soapies are right up the street, as are a number of beer bars.

I'm not sure about the Arcea.

I've stayed a few times in Sabai Lodge and its worth remembering that they have around 10 categories of room ranging from luxurious to shithole. On my last trip i was billeted in what they classed as Sperior B but checked out after 24 hours. Broken sink, view of brick wall, half the lights not working. Worse than many of the so called short time rooms i have used over the years.

Dude - for the low season charge of 700 baht - you can't go wrong at the Sabai Inn. Cleaning service is A1+ - big rooms - nice patio, sitting area outside hotel - Rooms are kept very clean - friendly reception staff.

Do NOT use their laundry service as they will mess up the bill and over charge you. Plenty of places on soi 3 for laundry  and half the price :finger

I'm staying there next time, until I sort out a long term apartment :clueless

Stay in soi 2 if your a newbie - baht busses pass every minute - just walk out of hotel and one comes along.

A nice 7 mins walk to soi 6.

Soi 7/8 only three mins on baht bus - Walking St say 6 mins.

Soi 2 peaceful at night - stagger out of Walking st Go Go at 2am with 21 yar old hottie - jump on baht bus - 5 mins max to soi 3 - enter 7/11 for water (bar girl will proceed to grab a basket load of goodies and the bill will somehow be 250 baht :chogdee2 ) then a two min walk to Sabai Inn.

Sabai Inn about 750 baht, Areca about 1,100 baht.

I went to www.sabaiinn.com and I can see that the transportation to the hotel is 1500 baht from the Bangkok airport, but I don't see any room rates listed. Kind of strange.

Sawadee.com shows a rate of 1000 baht for the standard room however.

Okay. Thanks for the info! I see that it was under "Special Internet Rates".

There is a big difference between the "Special Internet Rate" and the "Full Rate". Makes it seem like you are getting quite a bargain.

frankieo,

I have not stayed at the Areca but I have stayed at the Sabai Lodge many times, 7 times I think, and I have no desire to try elsewhere!!!

Girl freindly, nice hotel with 4 good pools in a great location and you are never more that 5 mins away from any part of Pattaya as the baht buses pass constantly 24hrs a day.

No wifi and could perhaps need sprucing up in a few areas, but I remain more than happy with this hotel and would strongly recommend it. I am back again next month!! Email Care for "best rates" then email her back and ask her if she sure that that is her best, usually she will reduce them again slightly!!! Hope this helps.

Regards to all.
