hand luggage from uk

hi lads, just picking anyones brain on this one who has just recently travelled from uk. i know the sizes are 45cm x35cm 15cm, and the liquid issuse. how strict are they with sizes

It's 16cm rather than 15cm (could make a difference). Haven't been through it myself, but I get the impression that all bags are being measured. I'm sure some kind soul can enlighten us both on this, as I'd like to know as well.

As far as I can gather, the problem lies with the machines used to scan or X-ray hand luggage. With the new regulations, the current equipment can't cope with hand-luggage larger than the new sizes. Therefore, expect all airlines to be very strict about these sizes. This applies if flying from the UK. There seem to be moves afoot to extend this over the whole of the E.U.

 

At present, until these machines are replaced, it seems as though this limitation will last for quite a long time.

Quite a few sites on the net selling luggage now have a special section for flight bags that meet the new regulations.
