A friend of mine used to work for them as a flight attendant and she rates them pretty highly. I know a few people who have flown them and all have given positive reports.

Pretty average airline, neither great nor bad; However, direct from Dublin to Bahrain would be a big bonus, avoiding the cesspit that is Heathrow ! :allright

It obviuosly depends on what you find important in a flight and whether you fly business or economy.

But I put Gulf in the top 3.

Greetings

I flew with Gulf Air from Kuwait to Bkk via Bahrain, last month. I think Gulf are a terrific airline, service was good and they managed to get me to bangers in one piece. The return flight was even better; I think they fly a Boeing 767 back to the Middle East, but there would have been 50 passengers at most in the economy section of the plane, so there was heaps of room to spread out and go to sleep

As I say I had a great trip with them so I'd highly recommemd Gulf to you

As with all middle east airlines its really the stopover that is the determiming factor, 4 hours in Bahrain and worse Abu Dhabi, a place you do not want to be if you do not like cigarette smoke or most any other reason.

But on board I would say Gulf Air - average in economy. Got delayed at LHR (ATC computer broke down) and missed connection in Abu Dhabi, Gulf Air looked after us very well in quality hotel. :D

Plus join frequent flyer club on line and get extra 10kgs of baggage free straight off :clap2 :clap2

I've only ever used Biz and 1st. Both of which are now very dated and in desperate need of upgrade. Free limo service in Biz is a plus, but Etihad amongst others do that too with a way better product.

I noticed also that the Paris-Gulf leg used a spanking new aircraft (777?) but the Gulf-BKK leg used a tired plane.

I guess the money traffic is first leg and cheap chaalie sex tourists are 2nd leg...and who knows about the 3rd leg? :clap1
