Avatar distorted

I finally decided to build an avatar, and as its animated GIF (large) I store it offsite. When I look at it the system is stretching it out along the x axis. I'm using the same file as an avatar on another forum that appears from the UI to use the software and it doesn't do this. Is there any setting I can adjust for this?

You should have the option of specifying the X-axis size and the Y-axis size (width and height respectively) when you upload/change your avatar. The limit is 150x100. You need to therefore figure out the % of width versus height that you want. For example, if your gif (and I know this is huge) is 640x480, that's a ratio of 1.33:1(1.33 pixels vertical for every 1 pixel horizointal), versus the 1.5:1 of the maximum avatar size. So, still using the previous example, you would make it 133x100 when you uploaded the avatar.

If you don't specify the size it will default to 150 wide by 100 high. You can specify the size in your control panel - click my controls top right of this page and go to Avatar settings. There you will see your avatar and the off site size. In this case your avatar is 100 wide by 133 hight.

 

At the bottom of the screen is the width and height setting. The maximum height allowed is 100 so set height at 100 (75% of 133). To keep ther pics perspective you need to reduce the width by a similar percentage. 75% of 100 is 75 so set the width to 75.

 

I've done it for you so it is not streched now.

If they have a problem, they can go into Board Settings and switch the avatars off.

Then no one's atavar shows? A few months ago, MM or PP banned half megabyte sigs that a couple of BMs were using. I did a re-make of the sigs down to about 45k and offered them but they weren't used - I'll see what can be done with the Cowgirl.
