Booking LHR to BKK flights

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I have always flown direct in the past, well, as direct as I can from Belfast, BHD to LHR to BKK. Cost £560 On my last trip, 2 months ago, I booked Emirates flights via Dubai, 4 months before departure because I thought the price was ok. One month before departure I could have booked to fly direct from LHR, with Thai for £470. :kissing

I wanna go to Pats end Mar to mid Apr 07. The prices all seem very high. Every flight agent I talk to blames it on Easter and Im thinking so what theres an Easter every year :thumbup . I usually go to Pats around or just before Easter and paid £500ish for the direct LHR - BKK flight.

What I would like to know is what do you think??? would you book now or do you think the prices will come down in the new year even though I going over a "peak" holiday???

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Python - yes there is always an easter and it is always expensive. Try tailoring your flights AROUND the actual two weeks the kids are off school that way it will be cheaper.

I have always found WestEast to be the best agent in the busy times as they tend to keep their prices fixed.

More details on them here

Oh and by th eway you could have got a lot better than $470 (pounds) direct and probably at the same time you booked your Emirates flight. WestEast tend to have these kind of prices available all year you DON'T have to wait until close to departure to get cheap direct deals. Indeed they can often go UP in price the closer you get if the seats are in short supply.

There is no hard and fast answer - I always used to fly direct and you just have to be happy with what you get. Remember however cheap you get it there will always be some guy on the plane who got it for less than you.

Hi,

I agree with the last poster that there is no hard and fast answer. :clap1 However, I was chatting to a very helpful Aussie at Lastminute one day and she told me if you are going in March/April maybe better to book in January as business can be slow after Christmas and prices may come down. On the run to Christmas everybody from butchers to blacksmiths seem to put prices up. Even Tesco were caught out boosting their prices. So much for seasons goodwill. :D

I hope to go around about march 22 or 23, I will book it in January. I have gone easter time for years now! in the past ive phoned up various shops, and when I thought I had a good deal I would book it!Of course sometimes I have had real bargains, and once or twice, if I had waited aweek or two I would have got a ,better deal!

Its swings and roundabouts really!,but this time I will wait until January! As has been posted earlier West East travel are really good!

I have used West East for all of my trips for the last 3 years having been recommended by a friend. I am trying to get back to Pattaya 4th April - 17th April and have been quoted £570 for either Thai or Eva - that was last week. However, I asked one of the staff about 'Promotion' and I was told that they expect the LHR - BKK direct flight with Thai to be about £420 when prices come out in January 07. Only snag is that you get 50% airlimes - I aim to wait another 6 weeks and then book. Worst case scenario is I pay £570 :banghead

Guys,

Thanks for all your comments this is helpful as I now feel inclined to wait until Jan, but I know I could be tempted and just book as I always feel happier knowing its booked and I can just concentrate on looking forward to my trip.

The main probs I have are firstly the dates. We want to go for 3 weeks with the Songkran about the middle of the trip. So this kinda dictates the dates.

Secondly, the other main expense is because of the fact I live in Northern Ireland. I don't want to sound unappreciative of posters comments but I was aware of WestEast. The cheapest price they can offer for a direct flight for the above period is £726 with Thai. Belfast to LHR £173 & LHR to BKK is £553, so the whole trip with Emirates for £560 is not so bad, though I have got direct for this price before but at a different time of the year.

expect the LHR - BKK direct flight with Thai to be about £420 when prices come out in January 07.
sounds good to me!!! god, I hope they are right!!! That would make my day!

Once again thanks for the advice & keep it coming.

Regards
