Alternative to Sabai Lodge

Recommended Posts

Comming back in the spring.

I have always been staying at Sabai Lodge or Sabai Resort on my last trip and I have been pretty happy with the service and the rooms. Plus I really like the location. But just to try something new I was wondering if anybody can suggest an alternative in that area. I dont mind paying around 2000 bath/night.

Thanks in advance

Curly

I stayed at Sabai New wing a couple of years ago and was very happy there.

Then I tried The Victoria Inn Soi 6. Good local of course Soi 6, breakfasts etc. and Big C etc. But was no where near the standard of room, service and comfort. And the F* stairs for the penthouse rooms!!!

I then moved down to Areca Lodge. Really love this place. I like the area, Soi Diane and LK Metro etc.

I find it great to walk to 2nd Road at Mikes Dept Store. Then easy Baht Bus to Big C /Soi six. Jump off Baht bus on Beach road to cut through Mikes. Easy walk Sois 7/8 and Walking street. Soi Bahkau (spell)

Like other BMs After nearly every meal I like to walk.

I would often go B Bus to big C. Walk Beach road to walking Street and back to Soi Diana. Occasionaly diverting off the track for distractions.

Very pleased with Areca Lodge, back there again next week and 18 Jan after Cambodia and Bangkok.

website is

www.arecalodge.com

I usually pay BHT 1690 de luxe High season but will try the executive room 2590 in Jan as De Lux full.

All this is much cheaper in February

It's not quite your area but hope this helps

on Soi 4 you also have the bella villa prima, very similar to best beach

hope this helps; both are good

if you want to go even more upscale, check out the Mike Orchid Resort...pretty swanky although you cannot tell that from the website

FYI: the Mike Orchid Resort is lots better than Mike Beach Resort; they're both on Soi 4, so choose carefully

anyone stayed at nova lodge?

Its in a great location and 20 years ago was probably one of the top hotels in Pattaya. Haven't stayed there because from the outside it looks like they haven't done anything to the place since it opened which is odd because the Nova Group has recently opened or is in the process of opening many other fine hotels/apartments/condos in the Pattaya area.

Hi,

Thanks to those that posted as I found this to be of a lot of interest.

I was in the same situation a couple of months ago. I had stayed at Sabai Lodge for my last 7 trips. I don't fault the hotel I just wanted a change. The only thing I don't like about Soi 2 is that once you get known in any of the bars that face on to Soi 2 or 2nd Road I feel you can not move without being spotted. Every time you enter one of the bars you get a blow by blow account of all your movements, with timings and who you where with!!! I know there are ways to avoid the bars but why the fuck should I???

So, Ive now booked for the Areca, hence my interest in this thread.

I asked about the Nova on this board a few months back and none of the replies where favorable. Emils reply is, I think, probably the most positive I've read and its hardly flattering. Try doing a search.

Best regards & happy a new year to all.

There is the Nova Lodge, down near or on Beach Road and then there is the Nova Park, just east of Second Road. Nova Lodge has a reputation for being poorly maintained. Nova Park has, last I've heard a positive reputation.

There're many expats staying in Nova Park on a long-time basis.

Just a few meters down that soi another hotel opened last month, can't remember its name but its cheaper. Also nearby the Nova Condos should open later this year and the Nova Residence soon thereafter. This area had nothing about 4 years ago, now 5 places up and running with more on the way.
