Farang Aid & Support Team (FAST)

Recommended Posts

I heard about this service Farang Aid & Support Team (FAST) when I was in Pattaya last year. For a few thousand baht a year they offer a support service in case of medical or legal emergencies. You carry round a card with their phone number on it for you or medical services or police to contact in case of emergency.

This is their, er, minimal website:

http://www.fastaid.co.th

I believe you can also join through AA Insurance near Carrefour.

As I understand it, it's basically a contact service - you still need medical insurance and you'd still need to pay the fees of any lawyers they put you in touch with. But if you're a guy in Pattaya on his own and you're suddenly gaga in a hospital or suddenly locked up in prison FAST would have all your details on file (insurance policy details, next of kin etc) and should ensure you get the services you need.

Any good?

Anyone any experience of FAST?

I think you are about right in your description. Especially for people without too many contacts this service is ideal. However, I must admit that I haven’t heard anything of- / about them the last couple of months. They are indeed keeping office in the AA insurance place almost opposite Carrefour. So far I (luckily) never had to use their services.

Would be good to hear more about / from them in the near future.

Well I picked up their flyer at the Expats club meeting thinking this would be useful if I got involved in a traffic accident. (The card I got with my insurance has loads of telephone numbers, but everything is writen in Thai???). They seem to get promoted at the Expats club a lot. I sent off an Email, 6 days later no reply...not so FAST so far. Would they respond quickly to a problem if they are so lapse with their mails?

AA Insurance also have an office in View Talay 5C - used be Viwe Talay 2A - but when I went to renew my travel insurance, the girl there was very new and didn't seem to be too sure about what she was doing. At least I got a receipt from her. :gulp

I must check out the costs of FAST again. I think they can also help you should you ever get into trouble with the BiB.

Yes, exactly. That's the sort of thing I meant by "legal emergencies".

Wonder if jacko's got his reply from them yet........

For further info you can contact mr. Andrew (Andy) Scorer at 081 76 200 13.
