Hi all , I am thinking about using (cheapest so far at £465) Qatar airlines from heathrow to Bkk and wondered if anyone has any info as I have never flown with them before ,what kind of plane,entertainment,service,room,quality,or anything else thanks

I've flown with them many times mate...great service.....got the 5* award for airline service......entertainment programme is the latest one on the market.......they usually use the A330-300 planes...all fairly new and in great condition...

 

Legroom standard as with other planes........Join there frequent fliers club online today...just give a few details online and they send you your cards to you....baggage credit cards etc......very professional......also gives you an extra 10kilos in wait for the trip...and doesn't cost a penny....only 5 mins to fill in.......take a note of the member number & when you book in tell them......walla you got 10 kilos extra....

 

All in all mate good service....flying with them on the 19th April 2007 from Gatwick......... they have even held a flight for the missus...and dont have to pay till after a few days when i get to bangkok.

I too am flying first time with them since demise of Gwick Etihad route.

What's Doha airport like, it was being upgraded recently..?

One thing, they issue E tickets and ask you to be at airport 3 hours prior....

Another thing, Airline Network have had offers this week ranging £394 - 400 under special deals April, May June...

Doha airport is fairly small..............lot of work going on last time i was there...thats the transit bit......Duty free is pretty small....but with a 50 minute changeover on way out and 3 hours on the way back......im sure you can find something to do.

 

i'll have the missus with me so duty free here we come...!!!

Aircraft LHR-DOH and v.v. varies between A330 and A340-600 (not much difference for passengers - one has 2 engines, the other 4). DOH-BKK and v.v. is A330. Both are in a 2-4-2 configuration in economy.

 

Entertainment is AVOD in all classes.

 

Two meals are served on each leg and booze is plentiful.

 

The upgrade work at DOH was completed last Nov for the Asian Games. The new terminal being built is some way from the existing terminal.

 

Duty Free is small but very cheap for ciggies/booze.

 

Cabin crew are generally a mix of Asian, East European and Arab.

 

Join their FF Club online. Two return trips in one year will get you Silver status.

I have flown with them once. I would say they are a good airline, no problems, full entertainment centre in the back of the chairs, good food and service. Doha airport I found to be very traditional Arabian unlike Abu Dhabi airport which is more westernised. The change over time was very quick there and back. You should be able to get a better price than what you quoted as normally they are pretty cheap.

Gone up a bit now.....I paid £370 return, flying 19th April to 3rd May.........Just bought a single ticket for the missus to come back.....£396 single....

 

 

i think the prices went up on the 15th March 2007.

Hi Cenn3,I tried again to get the fare you suggested and lo and behold it was there so I am booked out of gatwick on Qatar on the 18th till the 3rd of july £438. If anyone saw the previous post its gone now as I did some checking and got it right in the end

Just returned from atrip with Qatar into beijing and back from bangkok business class and it was ok but nothing special. Planes new ( although you may get an older one on the BKK route ) but service inconsistent. As prices were low the planes tend to be very full. Economy looked to be a real zoo, packed , screaming kids and customers who have never heard of the concept of queing.

 

My transfers at Doha were fairly smooth although have heard reports from others who missed their " guaranteed" connections ).

My e-mail confirmation says said we fly to(and depart from) BKK DON MUANG!

 

Any response to put my worrying mind at ease would be grateful
