Medium Quality Hotel in Bangkok for May 07

Recommended Posts

For several previous visits I have stayed the BK part of my trip in Grand Business Inn, Soi 11 which for me has been ideal for Nana and not impossibly far from Asoke Cowboy or easy taxi and near to all the attractions off Sukhumvit. However I have heard all the time since December last 06 that there is serious building going on all around it and one reviewer here says so still at March 07 and the noise is apparently unbearable.

Any recommendations please for similar hotel in the 1000-1700 bht night level close to the aformentioned attractions... I have spotted one review of the good looking Grottino at Soi 19 nearer Cowboy but further to Nana and Soi 7, Soi 8 haunts etc...

Any other central Sukhumvit recommendations, must be aircon and girl friendly and in this market level at least.... thought about the Ambassador in Soi 11 but no idea how far down the Soi the apparently constant and awful builing site is stretching... anyone know if the Ambassador is GF and is also noise free currently?

Thanks

Here's a very basic, but clean, no-roach hotel with A/C at 700B/night, close to Nana: Thai House Inn

An even cheaper place is NumberOne Guest House Trivia Question: Why does this place occupy a special place in the history of Bangkok P4P? It will be fun to see if any "veterans" get the answer right.

Another lower Suk hotel, but at 1,400B/night: Ever Rich Inn

Not the best location, but very low price: Honey Hotel

Way outside the Suk area, but great value for money under 650B/night. Taxi/moto will get you to the lower Suk. The colorfully named NasaVegasHotel \

A good one on the lower Suk if you can afford 1,300B/night: Stable Lodge

Another great choice, probably best value for money of all at 1,400B/night, but on Soi 18:

Town Lodge

Thank you for those suggestions. My budget is anywhere between the 1000-2500 range really as I am used to paying at least 1450-1600 in Nov/Dec in the Grand Business Inn. The Stables looks about the most interesting to me from that suggested list and especially as it's almost next door to L*litas which has to be a bonus..

I am VERY interested in staying at the wonderful beautiful Shanghai Inn which is up to about 2400 Bht for superior and more for suites, but it's in Yaowarat which I know well but that's a LONG way away from Sukhumvit and also I am not sure what their GF status is. It would be nice but would mean taxi in and out for almost all the action at night.

Thanks for your suggested hotels.

Just stayed at the Dynasty Inn Grande on Soi 6, excellent location (2 mins from Nana plaza and Nana skytrain stop) .

Nice big room and bathroom, room light and clean, flat screen TV with DVD player, staff very nice and guest friendly, decent pool, around 2200 bht night room only. The food is ok, full breakfast 280bht which is available 24 hours

Downside is the sun around the pool is there between 9.30 and 2.30, although 5 hours in the sun is enough for most farangs, the Thai girls seem to like it as after 2.30 they can swim and sit outside without becoming too 'chocolate'

I have been to LOS 5 times and stayed in about 8 hotels, I will be back at the Grand in December when I go back.

Thanks very much all, for those replies, several of which look really good. I guess now I have to make a pick. The Grottino looks interesting, although I am now told by Grand Business Inn in an email ' contruction now 100% complete and no noise' ... hmm wonder if that's true or not...

Other suggestions Dynasty and Town Lodge also look good on research. I will be in BK first week of May.

Thanks.
