It will be my first vist to Pattaya, so i need some advice about the best location (afterwards, i'd choose my hotel). I want to be close to the beach and also to the bars. One the other hand, if i want to sleep early (well, let's say 1 am) i don't want a place where i keep listening to the very loud music from bars ( i suppose their music is as loud as in NEP...),and if i want to get up late, i don't like construction noises. Neither i want to stay in some dirty or dangerous soi...

At this time, i am still a bit confused about the way ppl talk about the names os the sois (when you taalk about Soi 6, for instance, wich road are you talking about?).

That's why i need some help. After that, i will look for what i'm looking for (guest friendly hotel, not pricey, with pool. Good breakfast is a plus, same with gym).

Thanks

Check out the Areca Lodge - it's in the middle of the action and has all the requirements you listed. http://www.arecalodge.com/index.htm.

About "sois" - these, in English, are lanes e.g. when people refer to sois 1 to soi 13 etc these are lanes that connect Beach Road to 2nd Road. Check out the maps on this forum to give yourself a better understanding.

Hope this helps,

George

The Sois are small secondary streets off of the main streets/roads. Most of the time when sois are mentioned they are the ones that run between Beach Rd and 2nd Rd. They are in sequence with Soi 1 being at the northern end and Soi 13 at the southern end near Walking St. Some of them will even repeat like Soi 13, that also has 13/1, 13/2, 13/3 and 13/4.

In reality there are numerous soi 5s or soi 6s for example as they will also run off of the other main roads in Pattaya like PattayaKlang so make sure that your talking about the correct one.

Yeah, i know what a soi is...the problem is i can't say from wich road some soi is...In BKK, we say, for example, Sukhumvit 8, meaning Soi 8 off Sukhumvit Rd. In Pattaya, "soi 6" mwans to Beach Rd 6, Second Rd 6...or what? Same for soi 13, or soi 7, etc...

fili

A lot of the sois are between Beach road and Second road, eg: Soi 6 goes from Beach to second. Baht buses evry few seconds clockwise, down Beach and back up Second. No Tuk Tuks in Pats.

Hi Philipef, there are a few things you have to do ,

1/ join the board as a full member so you get the complete info you need

2/search for a Pattaya map this will give you the info on the Sois and where they are

3/make up your own mind, anything that anyone says on here is only their opinion and not everyone has the same opinion.

4/ my opinion for what its worth is soi 13 would probably suit your needs ,The Lek hotel has a great pool(probably the best hotel pool in Pattaya) but no gym as far as I know. There are other hotels in soi 13 but I have no personal knowledge of them .search the hotels section for the real info.
