LCD invertor on a laptop

Recommended Posts

Just got my laptop back from the repair shop. The screen was sometimes blacking out when I adjusted the angle and even done it a couple of times without touching it. The repeir note says they replaced the lcd inverter. Does that sound like they done the right thing. It will take me a while to find out by using it because it was only an intermittent fault, but want to know now because the guarantee runs out in a few weeks. Thanks.

mmm dunno about lcd inverter.....my initial thinking was that the fault would have been in the ribbon connector that goes from the screen to the base. (hence when you adjust the angle you are moving the ribbon at the joint slightly).

Obviously replacing the ribbon would be pennies......but a LCD invertor.......sounds expensive

just a thought

Thats what I thought too, but when I phoned them to take it away, the guy on the phone said it sounded like the backlight. Hopefully its a techy word for backlight

Good for you.

I've about given up on my own personal mission to point out that people are sitting on the greatest database of information ever assembled in the universe, it's all free and it's even easier than starting a new message thread and putting all the information here. If they don't want to type "google", fine.

I just like to show off. But you are right, google is like the most comprehensive encyclopedia you will ever find. There is very little you can't find at least a few hits on. Wikipedia is getting better about factual and historical info but still has a ways to go. I like that you can now find out, at least approximately, who has made revisions and edits.

I wish you would give up on your self appointed " mission " to make us all as knowledgable as you. I thought you were the greatest ever assembled database in the universe.
