Have you flown upstairs on Eva refurb 747?

Recommended Posts

I believe that Eva have been flying a 77W refurbished 747 on the USA west coast route for a while, this aircraft has economy seating upstairs in the bubble.

If you have flown up top can you give a report, ie: best seats etc?

I have had a look at the seating plan on the Eva web site but I am not sure if there is a life raft sticking out the door so that if you are in A row you cannot stretch your legs out, if you remember this was a problem in the old 747s in Evergreen.

TIA

Gus,

There is a liferaft/slide that protrudes into the cabin area in front of row 85. It is a pain in seats 85A and K. The two exit row aisle seats (85C and H) offer the best legroom. That said, it is a 36 seat pitch in the upstairs economy which is as good as it gets with any airline.

Cheers Tom

I quite fancied 85K but not if the slide is in my way.

On the 777 G row was OK, never had anyone need to move me to get out, now with the 74W an aisle seat upstairs means 2 pax need to pass over, assuming both seats full.

I bet it's lovely and quiet up top.

My travel arrangements change almost daily

Booking direct with Eva is £489 inc tax, the PL is very tempting at £1229 inc tax but I think that I will stay in the zoo :D

Oh nothat not true at all. The raft cover is plastic and on the tilt. your leg just slides off. Avoid at all cost ! Griffo

The SFO to TPE route is still flying the old 747 layout and I hope they keep doing that for as long as possible. I like the fact that with evergreen deluxe you can be at the front of the plane which is a small cozy area. Upstairs is nice too with business and first class.

I agree that exit seats can be the worst on the plane, on Toms seat plan I am not sure how much the rafts stick out upstairs on the 747.

I fly in the zoo most times and seats can vary depending on how full the flight is. Exit rows are usually full but if the flight is not too busy then the standard seats can be OK.

With my Eva silver card I can normally get an empty seat next to me blocked if the flight is not busy.

For that reason I travel usually on Tuesday or wednesday and try not to fly over very busy periods.

Sorry guys, 16 days to T and counting 2guns :hithead 2guns
