In 40 years, Pattaya has changed from a sleepy fishing village to the chaos it is today. I've put together a photographic walk through hisotry, with photos from each decade here in Pattaya. Enjoy!

FWIW, for some reason I think the photo captioned "Pattaya Downtown 1971" is Naklua. You might check that out. I was in Pattaya in 1971 and that looks more like the district town and not what we call Pattaya today.

 

Also I'm pretty sure "Pattaya 1968: Central Road & Beach Road" is Walking Street, specifically the big tree - and the pickups on the right are parked where today you can get out to the boats to the island. Again, you want to check that.

Good collection. If you drop into Cabbages and Condoms restaurant they have a pic from around 1956.

 

BTW, Isn't this the entrance to what is now Walking Street as Beach Road heads up to Second Road?

I have no way of checking the facts and locales behind them as I don't know the photogs.

 

 

On the big tree, however, I do remember seeing a caption that stated what I said it was. Never know, though.

Interesting collection of photos, its amazing how its changed throughout the years. I wonder if we'll see such a dramatic change in places considered "out of town" by todays standards in the coming decades

Great stuff !!! One of these days I really should scan in my pics from 1989 & onwards..........just about a.....few thousand pics......!
