How to get the FLB rate for LK Group Hotels

Recommended Posts

I spent an hour or so with the reservations clerk and the manager of marketing at the LK Metropole to try and resolve the issue of the lack of response. We found the emails from the members of the board (some of whom have commented here) in their mailbox. I don't know why they didn't see them initially. They assured me they would get back to the writers of the emails.

Has anyone received a reply to their email from the hotel(s) lately?

Anyone know if the reduced rate for LK Renaissance is still going as im looking to book from 8th October for 10 days?

I was just told by the LK staff that the LK Renaissance is fully booked until March or April. They are renovating some rooms, so their inventory is down to 60 rooms...all booked.

Reservations can still be made at the LK Metropole, LK Royal Suites and Mantra Pura.

I booked my room for the LK Renaissance in September for my stay in November and December. I received a response within 24 hours from the LK each time I emailed them. On the whole I'm happy with my past stays at both the Metropole and the Renaissance. They do have some quirky policies but have always taken care of me.

Anybody try to book recently? I just requested info for late Jan - mid Feb 09 and was quoted the rack rate with no discount. I followed the instructions and sent the email through the CARD button on the first post.

Try telling them to have Tony at the LK Metropole read your letter. He seems to be able to get it right each time.

Frankly, after all this time of them being unable to coordinate their position on the FLB rate, I leave it up to you guys to figure it out. I worked out a discount with them. They were happy because it filled rooms. I was happy because it was a benefit to members. But, I make nothing from the deal, and if they want to piss off customers, that's their problem.

Good luck with trying to get the rate. It's set in a contract and it's good until Sept 30, 2009. You just have to get them to acknowledge it...though they are a bit disorganized.

Thanks Martin. Didn't think it was anything on your end; I read the whole thread and saw all the problems others have had. I'll try resending the email directed to Tony. And you're right, if they can't get it together, I'll move on to a different hotel.

UPDATE:

FYI for anybody thinking about booking. After I resent, I received a second reply with the quoted price for the Metropole. I had requested quotes for late Jan - mid Feb '09.

"Lastest update rate for FLB Entertainment as followed.

Standard double bed THB1,625

Studio double bed THB1,950

Superior double bed THB2,080

All room type are exclude breakfast and the breakfast cost only 150 baht."

Slightly better than the chart on page one, minus breakfast which I'd rather do without anyways. Now I gotta choose between LK and Best Beach on Soi 5.

Reservations can still be made at the LK Metropole, LK Royal Suites and Mantra Pura.

I just reserved a one-bedroom suite at LK Metropole for 10 nights in January. They answered me within 6 hours of my email through the "card" function at the bottom of the first post in this thread. That's service!

The rate was very attractive, certainly better than I could have gotten through any online booking agency.

But they did say that LK Metropole only had two one-bedroom suites available for the days I wanted, so with my reservation, only one left now. Whatever the decrease in total tourist visitors, it doesn't seem to be hurting the LK hotels.

Evil

The LK Group consists of the following upscale hotels : LK Metropole, LK Renaissance, LK Royal Suites and Mantra Pura.

The LK Group has a special rate for FLB PattayaTalk members. At times, when they are not running a deep discount, it is the best rate available, because FLB gets travel agent rates without taking a cut.

LK Group is concerned that some people are simply claiming to be PattayaTalk members, because they have heard about the discounted rate. Word travels fast, and prior to this, it was only necessary to request the "FLB rate" to get it. They have changed their reservation/booking policy so that it requires an email from an account/userid on this forum to place the reservation.

So, here's how we are going to do it from now on:

If you want to book with the LK Hotels using the FLB rate, send an EMAIL using the CARD button associated with this post to send an email to LKHOTELS. Click on the CARD button, and then click on SEND EMAIL.

Please do not send a message to MM or any other user in this thread.

Give the following information in your email:

Subject : Hotel Name

Body of email:

Booking dates, type of room

Your email address

This email will be received by the LK Reservations people, but it will originate from this internet forum, so they can be assured you have a membership on the forum. Once they have received your email (through this forum), they can reply to you directly via the email address contained in your request.

This post was written by MM on behalf of the LK Group.

Now I will probably get laughed at, but given the fact this website has a special deal with these properties, I assume they are all "Girl Friendly"

I stayed at the metropole yuley and they had no issues at all - i had two girls back on a few occasions and no joiner fee.... just tipped the security guard 100 baht. he then pissed himself every time he saw me after that....

Did you have to wake him, or interupt him whilst he was looking at Russian porn on the internet to give him the 100 baht?

Would you recommend LK Metropole for a first time Pattaya visitor, or would you be suggesting elsewhere for a first timer?? Maybe Sabai Lodge??

I would reccomend it for a first timer yuley because it's in an area that has some good action close by including beer bars, air con bars and a couple of gogo's and even a ladyboy bar or two. There are also a couple of markets fairly locally and some pretty good / cheap places to eat. It's also fairly easy to get the baht bus around the place, the room I had was clean and well furnished with a big comfy bed (I had a 1 bedroom suite and the chicks dug it) and as I mentioned before it was v guest friendly, had a small gym, a pool and free internet in the lobby and internet in the rooms. The only downsides for me were the view from my room, which wasnt the best and the room service menu was pretty rubbish (only really mattered on the days when I was simply too hungover to move). I have stayed in various similar hotels in patts, the four seasons place and whitehouse condotel soi 13 being the closest, and I considered the metropole to be best value IMHO. The best rate I could find was actually through www.agoda.com - sorry MM!

As far as location goes the whitehouse condotel soi 13 was very good as well and I walked home several time with ease from walking street when staying there. The metropole will always be a baht bus or motorbike ride from WS.

As an aside - don;t ever stay in the four seasons places, although the rooms are absolutely lovely the reception staff are fucking idiots.

Cheers

I am trying to figure out how to access the card button.

you and me both, midlifecrisis.

the fact is, i just checked into the metropole today staying for a month. had it all arranged yesterday. they offered me a month in a studio for 33,000 baht. i asked them if i'd be better off with "the FLB rate" and the desk clerk checked her notes and said, no, it's the same rate. so i said okay and booked it to move in the next day.

so i came back today to check in and this time there was a guy behind the desk i'd never seen before (i've stayed metrople on several occasions). turned out this guy was Tony himself as i discovered when he began to demand things i had not agreed to...

to start with my room was not ready. wouldn't be ready until 7pm. when i asked why i wasn't told this yesterday when i made arrangements to switch hotels i got a blaise shrug.

then he told me he would charge my credit card for the entire amount, in advance, in addition to the 5,000thb security deposit he'd already charged. when i said i did not want to do that he said it was 'always the policy' of his hotel. i said, very politely, pardon me, but i have stayed here before and that has not been the policy and i would like to speak to the manager. that's when i got his title. and name. Tony. the manager. he smugly said "i will check your history with us and see that you paid in advance."

Two minutes later he frowned and had to agree that in the past, i had not paid in advance. but then he added -- i did not pay in advance because i had stayed under the FLB rate, but since i'm not staying under the FLB rate this time, i would have to pay in advance.

Now that took a minute to grasp. He had a record of the fact that I'd stayed under the FLB rate in the past -- leaving little doubt of my FLB membership status. and he agreed that the amount i was paying for this stay was exactly the FLB rate -- and yet, somehow, my rate was not the FLB rate.

Room not ready. Technicality on the "FLB rate". and a big frown coming from the manager before i even checked in...so i expressed concern that if he was displeased with me he should tell me and i will stay elsewhere but i will not agree to policies kept secret until this moment. After muttering a few things to the other people behind the desk, drawing from them looks making it clear tony doubted the purity of my parentage...he said no problem and said he would not charge my credit card until the end of the month. He told me in the future I must have Martin send an email to approve my status.

I simply could not get him to understand my perspective: on this thread it specifically says don't bother Martin, and since i'd been given *the exact same rate* as the "FLB rate" i figured, why the hell bother anybody?

Now i know. And now you know.

Or maybe not.

I'm still waiting to see if the staff's friendliness will return. Fortunately I've visited LOS often enough that i'd learned to disagree quietly and with a smile. Nonetheless, it was clear that Tony was not pleased with my not meeting his demands.

Damn this is a long post. Sorry. Bottom line, still not sure how i would tell tony in advance that i'm an authentic FLB-er, but what the hell. Maybe i won't be staying at any LK properties again. I'll let you know how tony treats me -- and my 30 joiners -- at the end of the month.

The board software has changed since the original LKHOTELS post was made. There is no CARD button anymore.

Here's how you can contact them to prove you are a member of the board (they want the email to come from PattayaTalk):

Go to the original post by LKHOTELS.

Click on the member name LKHOTELS. This opens up the PROFILE page.

Go to the very bottom of the page, and on the left you will see SEND EMAIL. Click that and fill in your reservation enquiry request.

Their email reply (if any) will be sent to the email you have registered with the forum.

P.S. bigten, that was some funny story...well, not funny for you, but still a head scratcher.
