Does anyone have any information on these please? When I was in Pattaya a few years ago there seemed to be a lot of quiz activity, but on my last visit it was not so prevelant. The 2 quiz nights that I went to (one was at the Pig and Whistle) seemed to have ended.

I know that as an activity quizzing is a bit mundane given the other pastimes available but it can be a welcome change sometimes!

There are two quiz leagues. One on Monday (formerly Sunday) and the other on Wednesday evening with a 20:30 start in both cases. There’s no “roster” of players, just show up and play. (In fact it’s possible to switch teams from week to week. No one cares,) No fees from the players and no prizes either. It’s a home and away schedule. Normally finishes by 23:00.

Wednesday league’s new season starts next week. Following bars are currently active in the league:

OK Corral (Soi Rungland)

Palmer’s (Pattayaland 2)

Cheers (Pattayaland 2)

Shagwell Mansions (Soi Arunothai)

Derbyshire (Soi 6)

Rising Sun (Soi Yamato)

Nervous Wreck (Soi Yamato)

Londoner (Soi Post Office)

Bowling Green (Soi Xzyte)

Bunker (Soi Chaiyapoon)

Boxing Roo (3rd Road)

Stag’s Head (Soi LK Metro) – new to the league with Nom’s Bar dropping out.

Most of the same bars play in the Monday night league.

The majority of the questions are British related, but there are enough general knowledge topics that as an American I can participate. There's a difference from bar to bar in how seriously they take the quiz, so shop around for one that fits you. And it does present the opportunity for the "married" guys to do a bar crawl after the quiz :drunk

In addition to the leagues there are also 3 other venues where you can just turn up and play.

1. on Tuesday nights at 2100hrs ,The Bowling Green just opposite the Excite disco

2. on thursday night at 2100 hrs The Sportsmans bar in soi 13.(free pie and chips at the end of the quiz)

3.on friday nights at 2000 hrs The Caddy Shack in soi 17 (next door to what was the Harley bar

These are all free to enter. there was as you say more venues in years past but many have just stopped the practice.

There may be others but I don't know of them so turn just up and enjoy.

Thank you both very much for such detailed replies.

If those are representitive of the quality of this site then I am really impressed.

From previous visits I know that this was a good alternative way to relax. The leading team at the Pig and Whistle were named Four Horesmen of the Apocalypse, whose star performer was "the Old Bugger" - no idea how he got that name!

Thank you for taking the time. I will definitely sample them on my next visit!
