Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

I post information weekly about my Bingo Bango Bongo golf group. I post on 4 other boards and for the past month +- I have a difficult time uploading the post even with small pictures. The other boards load just fine.

Am I the only one with problems or do any other members have problems. I am using 1-2 call phone modem, but the other boards load fast, no problem. PT takes 3-5 tries and takes more time than the other 4 put together.

Sounds like an ISP problem.... The simple solution is to compare hops from your laptop to this board. You can use a tool known as TRACERT avaible in the command (DOS) prompt, followede by your IP address.

To get your IP address bring up the DOS prompt, and type

IPCONFIG /ALL

That will give you your DNS and IP info.

Then type TRACERT (your IP ADDRESS here)

example

Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]

© Copyright 1985-2000 Microsoft Corp.

C:\>tracert pattayatalk.com

Tracing route to pattayatalk.com [66.220.28.120]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

1

2 10 ms 10 ms 17 ms 10.235.192.1

3 9 ms 20 ms 14 ms 71-9-15-149.static.rvs

149]

4 12 ms 13 ms 15 ms 66-215-0-150.static.ls

0.150]

5 19 ms 17 ms 19 ms 66.186.192.5

6 *

If access to the other sites are less hops that to PT, that may very well be your problem. All I can recommend is you get a faster connection through another ISP be it Broadband or DSL.

Bob we are both in Pattaya so our results should be similar but obviously are not as I find Pattaya Talk to be the fastest Pattaya board. The server for Talk is located in a very fast data centre in the USA. I am sure it is not a Pattaya Talk issue that is causing your problem but something either on your computer or with your ISP.

Try deleting your Pattaya Talk cookies. You can do this by going to the main Pattaya Talk page and clicking on "Delete cookies set by this board" near the bottom right of that page. After deleting cookies log off, reboot your computer and log in again.

If that doesn't work then changing your dns server to an open dns may help. It's a bit complicated to do this as it depends on a number of factors. A search on google for open dns should come up with some info on how to do it with your particular set up.

Failing that a change of ISP may be in order.

I will try deleting cookies and see if that helps, changing ISP's is not practical as I am using my 1-2 call for access, granted technically slow but I move around from Phoenix house, Pattaya house, Bird shop and Udon house so not practical to have multiple ISP conections. Next time I will try posting from Rabbi's bar with his wireless and see if that makes a difference.

I used to use my mobile on 1-2-Call (Edge) months ago... it just kept getting slower and slower.I think it was you Bob that once recommended the 1-2-Call package at the Expats Club.

I found that I could rarely access my email (UK hosted), outside an early AM or mid afternoon window. It is possible it has deteriorated further since I had ADSL piped in, and the connection to the USA is slow. Find a pal nearby and see if he will let you connect to his ADSL network to see how that works.

Yes it was me, my connection is consistently acceptable running usually 150/85. All my Postings on the other boards of exactly the same pictures loaded fine, only PT gave me a problem. Last week I made my golf report at Rabbi's Elephant bar where he has wireless and I used my laptop and all forums posted the same, so it is something between my computer/1-2 call GPRS but it is a mystery why only PT causes me a problem. But I am solution oriented not problem oriented so I found a solution.

I see you keep stating GPRS... but my mobile was using EDGE. Does your mobile support EDGE? Certainly EDGE was available where I live.

My mobile displays the network type.

But I like your approach, find an alternative rather than beat the problem to death.

I seem to have read that GPRS and edge are comparable when running through Nokia 3110C. If not than GPRS probably is more costly and I can get the benefit I want around the country with 1-2 call GPRS.

Sometimes my phone selected Edge, sometimes GPRS... all transparent to me and depended on location. I can only say that I seemed to get the slowest speed where I lived, East of Sukhumvit, Pattaya. Likely due to the number of people logging on. Seemed much better in other locales, Korat, Chiangmai, Nan... where it was available that is.

My ADSL isn't great and 3 times the price! Can't take it with me too!

Dear tech support,

I have two computers connected to a cable router. My first computer is old and has no problems view the pattaya talk forum.

The problem is with my second computer. Its brand new and is belligerant. Just because I tried to adjust the security settings when I first recieved it, now when I try to use it on PattayaTalk, I keep getting a log in page over and over again. Its like ground hog day. What do you suggest?

That happens when you have cookies disabled which a high security setting will do. There is nothing dangerous about enabling cookies and you can even enable them by site if you are really paranoid. Most sites that require you to log in will not work without cookies.

You can find a description here on how to enable them in Internet Explorer. Enable cookies in IE.
