Looks like Thai Air have finally started dropping fares out of Australia.

 

Most fares are around $1050 inc all taxes return out of MEL SYD & BNE for departures late Jan '09 to end Mar 09'.

 

The link below is from travel.com.au it has a sale on now until Dec 28th for the same departure dates as above but they have the price discounted down to approx $950 inc all taxes. Not a bad deal compared to what they have been asking of late.

 

Be quick the sale ends 28th Dec.

I wouldn't worry chances are you'll see further reductions before you leave! Keep your eyes on the Royal Brunei fares,they usually bring out specials around mid January onwards!

Compared to May this year still hightly inflated prices - think I paid around AUD$850 then. Fair enough the AUD has dropped a lot in value to the baht since then but I agree with previous poster - do not rush in - Thai tourism and airlines are suffering badly right now and good chance prices will drop in New Year particularly now they have competition from Air Asia.
