I need to get at least one implant for a tooth that was knocked out when a cable snapped and smacked me in the kisser a couple days ago.(front inciser)

I mean like prices, quality time reqiured ect... :D

as a dentist I can tell you that a single implant can be placed easily, but it needs 3 months to heal in the lower jaw, and up to 6 in the upper. the implant is then uncovered, as it is placed below the gums, then you need to have the crown made to be placed in the implant. So it isn't something that can be done in even a 1 month visit.

The Art of Smile near soi 6 has implants for 50K. I had a root canal and cap done there and the cost was 18K. I'm more then satisfied with the service and price.

Aren't you in and out of Singapore? I see your schedule and it seems you would be better off getting it done there. We can help you out with some of it. Stop at the MAS in Sembawang and I will help you out to the right place.

You can get the implant placed if you have sufficient bone in the maxilla. While you heal and the implant integrates you can wear a "flipper" , temp partial. No one will know. The costs are re-imburseable thru your insurance. Have the ships doc contact your medical senior chief "Louie" with SEALOGFE and he'll get you squared with us.

Thanks, I'll discuss this with my MSO today.I will be returning shortly to get the tooth out and a root canal from my dentist in Singapore, but I know I don't have time to get anything else done in only two days three at the most

Doc,

I ended up going to the seamens center since via e-mail they would completed the procedral in one setting.

They drilled my top front inciser a bit, then did a root canal leaving the remaining tooth intact, then when I came back about an hour later put a temporary cap on same, until I return for the permanent one in about two weeks time, or I could just wait until Pattaya, which appears to be the only way I will get any time off, like the next day off to get the work done, a hellva way to have no duty the next day, huh?

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, the price for the root canal and temp cap was $450 US , not sure yet what the perm cap will cost but I think the price list says $600 US here in Singapore, thats still less than the Sasebo navy base lists according to my MSO aboard ship

You don't get root canals, crowns, fillings, etc for free? I just assumed this was so for US Military. I watched 'Carrier' - they had a dental clinic on the ship - so you guys have to pay for these services?

I am on a US navy ship, but we are not active duty , but still fall under most of the rules, in other words we

fall into a gray zone, carry weapons but not with all the benefits, its kind hard to explain :clueless :clueless

But do the active duty guys get free dental? Just curious. I know some of them make very little money.

Yes, they do.

The only time we get dental work done for free is if its an emergency and we are traveling with the battle group when the emergency comes up, then we can get ANY medical treatment for free until we hit the next port, then we are on own

Thanks for your reply. As for your case, it seems silly to me - the dentists are there, don't have to go home or anything. Anyway, keep enjoying yourself with the time you get to take off. And thanks for doing what you're doing.

Spring isn't on a ship with a dentist.

A crown in Thailand would be much cheaper than Singapore. I would go see Doc Aree Pat Int'l. The new mall Central has a clinic as well.

The price of the root canal was reasonable.

Cheers,

Doc
