Thai Domestic Don Muang / Suvarnnabhumi

Anybody know what's going on with Thai Air flights relocating from DMK to BKK?

 

Last Saturday I booked the following flights: -

 

Don Muang to Khon Kaen on 28th March

 

Khon Kaen to Don Muang on 1st April

 

Don Muang to Chiang Mai on 1st April

 

Today I've received a slightly cryptic email from Thai Air suggesting that Khon Kaen flights will depart/arrive at Suvarnnabhumi from 1st April. No mention of Chiang Mai but when I check the schedule it says the Chiang Mai flight I'm booked on is no longer operating! Surely they would have made alternative arrangements!

 

Now I'm confused

Nothing unsure. That particular flight isn't going to fly -- as close to 100% certainty as you can get looking into the future. The last THAI flight from Don Mueang is to be March 29.

So does that mean I just use my ticket at the Suvarnnabhumi airport and maybe have to rebook the time of my flight.

That stuff, you can only guess about from here. But you really need to check with the airline. Best guess I have is you'll get as you say - different flight, different airport, same ticket.

Have just checked my booking on the Thai Airways website and all my flights and times have been updated.

Makes it easier for me now to travel to Suvarnnabhumi from Pattaya than to Don Muang.

I'm a bit confused. Does this mean that Nok and 1 2 go will now operate from Poomi or have they gone tits up?

As of today, Nok is listing Udonthani to Don Muang 1183 baht in May. My best guess would be that they will be flying to swampi. I'll probably try to call this weekend, can't be any worse than trying to call Air Asia.

 

Nok did drop a direct Udonthani to Chaing Mai flt a couple of years ago that we were booked on and rerouted us at no extra charge.

 

I don't believe they will be going belly up anytime soon.

Thanks RWB. I did the Udon to Chiang Mai flight a while back. It was handy. I think flying out of Poomi will help Nok.

 

I know what you mean with Air Asia. I have US$220 worth of credit with them. It will be interesting to see how I go booking flights to use up that credit.

TG is probably trying to consolidate it's pax loads. Chiang Mai is one of the destinations that they currently serve from both airports whereas the Khon Kaen flights are simply being moved from DMK to BKK.

 

I've heard nothing from NOK about them moving to BKK and their schedule still shows DMK for Had Yai flights for the next few months at least. If they move to BKK I can't really see much point in Thai persisting with them as a LCC.
