Erratic performance of this board

Recommended Posts

Like many many others I spend quite some time surfing around on this board, and also hopefully making some meaningful contributions when appropriate; however I'm getting increasingly frustrated by the hit and miss, erratic performance, typically when trying to initially open up the website and then having to sit around whilst trying to open posts that I'm interested in. I found it impossible to get on the site at around 8 -9 pm UK time last night and just gave up !

One small post I added earlier took around five minutes to actually "load up"

I would try to add more information as to when this is occurring but have yet to establish any particular times/patterns etc when perhaps it is more heavily loaded trafic wise.

While I have been experiencing these problems I have regularly quickly logged into other similar sites with no problems whatsoever, so I am confident that my communications are in order.

I've been stalling a bit on posting this note('cos I had made a similar comment a few weeks ago and MM got it sorted) and I don't want to be labelled as grumpy moaning old git with nothing better to do than complain about poor comms.

Like I said in my previous post on this subject "Surely it can't be just me that is affected by this" ?? :cry2

I guess, if the truth be known I spend far too much time on here especially having just come back from my

last trip and trying to cling on to memories that are so pertinent to Pattaya !! :finger

Perhaps it's the information super highway serving my PC in the UK then :finger

No, you're right, N3. I had some maintenance work to do today. I started it and the forum software was held up by the load on the machine, causing it to be slow or timeout on requests. So, I shut down the forum software for about 1/2 hour and let the maintenance continue.

I brought it back online about 4pm GMT+7.

There might be a bit more of this over the coming weeks, because my server hosting company has told me they are shutting down the datacenter where the server is hosted.

I'll be trying to migrate the board to another server...where yet, I don't know for sure.

About 3 - 4 hours ago i got a board error message(Ibf) and couldn't get in.

Normally it does not happen on this board(uk daytime 8am- 6pm) for me.

I host a board on http://www.advancednetworkhosts.com/ and they are far

worse than the hosting company of this board, but for 7 dollars a month that i

pay for 30,000mb of disk space and 300GB of bandwidth available, its not bad.

If this board has to move, then you should start worrying :finger

I've been seeing it slow for months now. I've tried IE, Opera & Firefox, PC & laptop. Still slow. Seems to speed up a bit after 21:00 GMT, so it may be something to do with my ISP's links to the US - where I believe the server lives.
