Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

I usually stay at the Sabai Lodge on Soi 2 whilst in Patts, however with the credit crunch and disastrous exchange rate I’m looking to cut a few costs on my forthcoming holiday that hopefully will not have a detrimental effect on my enjoyment of Fun City.

The list price at Sabai Lodge for my preferred Ruen Thai rooms is THB1450 in March and I will be staying 19 nights therefore a total cost will be GBP 540, I’m hoping to half this cost.

Following a fair bit of searching here and elsewhere I have narrowed it down to two possible candidates:

JP Court Hotel

Opey de Place

Both of these hotels are located close to each other on Soi Lengkee (off Soi Buakhao)

Has anyone either stayed at or inspected both of these hotels who could offer a view to which is better?

Another I was heavily considering is the Sunview Place on Soi Buakhao but the pool and location look inferior to the two listed above

Many Thanks

Yogi

I have stayed at both and they are pretty much the same with the exception of the safety box set-up. With J&P the safety boxes are directly behind the front desk and with the Opey, the safety boxes are in a separate room behind the front desk.

I really cannot remember any other major differences between the two places.

My 2 friend have been over for the last month and both stayed at the JP. I booked their rooms for them and inspected both places and the JP was definately the cleaner and friendlier of the 2 places.

My mates are now back home but could not get over the friendliness of the staff who all called them by name after the first day.

the rooms are basic but a reasonable size but even smelt clean.

Hope this helps

You can choose a pool view room or the cheaper rooms that look out into wasteland or soi lengkee.

The wasteland view has turned into a construction site so one may run into some noise.

Thanks greatly for the replies guys.

The construction noise is a slight concern - I've run into this problem once before in Patts and unfortunately the general construction worker does share the slightly nocturnal lifestyle I exercise in LOS.

Emil - do you think the noise will affect the Poolside rooms at JP Court or indeed will it be audible at the Opey de Place?

Thanks again

Opey was great to stay at I was there in November and we had 4 rooms on the 3rd floor one had a noisy aircon but all the others were great security is good no hassles and the pool was the best used it a few times , an extra thing when we were ther the place semmed to have a lot of familys with kids staying this made the place very quiet of a night . I hope this helps you also checked out Jp rooms while we were staying with a veiw to staying next trip and found the room they showed us was fresly painted but the rooms are the same size as the opey and a different shape pool with a bit more room to sit around at the J p but the new building next door might be a problem for a while now so I rebooked the opey for my May trip and you can get a great breakfast across the road from the opey at Le Katai

Wouldn't know as I don't stay in the area, I noticed the clearing of the site and following construction when I pass by the area when I'm out getting a little exercise. It was just a heads up comment, maybe someone who has stayed there recently can answer.

Have just checked with my mates and they both had poolside rooms at the JP and neither was disturbed by the construction noise once.

The bulk of the buildings skeleton is now in place so there will not be any pilling or such.

My other mate has a bar opposite the construction site on Soi Lengkee and we sit the during the day without being troubled.

Hope this helps

Opey is crap. Well the room is. Rubbish water pressure from a cheapo shower unit. Everything in the room was as cheap as you could get. Not saying the JP will be any different but you have to wonder at the intelligence of some people who open a hotel and provide lock boxes where you have to bring your own padlock !

Basic electronic safes start at about Bt1000 and realistically should be in all hotel rooms.
