April 15-Tax day

Recommended Posts

Even as a cheap Charley, one thing I never minded paying is taxes. I consider it the price of civilization and yes, I sent my checks out yesterday.

I'm supposed to be finishing my taxes today, but so far all I've done is to play around on the Internet and eat Chinese food. Maybe I'll actually get them done, although the schedule D is a pain in the neck. Anyway, I think they owe me money, so if I finish them tomorrow instead it's no big deal.

Finished and mailed on the 11th. For some unexplained reason I was efficient this year. Gonna get sizeable refunds from federal and state this year. That's a change! And will return to Pattaya in about 3 weeks and stay until December. A 7 months stay ain't bad. Actually it's what I do every year.

I've pretty much decided that's about how I'm going to handle it for the foreseeable future. Stay in the USA for a few months every year to do taxes, take care of business, and for any necessary medical appointments, and then off to Thailand or some such place for nine months. That would be easier than trying to move there entirely. I could still get the retirement visa, though. That's not too much trouble and it's good for a year.

I make two trips to the States each year. The other one is in December to keep the famly happy. I guess it's a good thing to do, but it's COLD! And damp. And cloudy. I seem to invent new curse words each year. So much for the Christmas spirit. But....I do love my family, so......

I'm thinking about doing a multi-country trip this year. I'm open for just about anything so long as the countries involved aren't too expensive. Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia. Maybe parts of Eastern Europe? I'll have to do my homework, though, as I'd like to keep the airfare expense to a minimum.

Just buy a ticket to LOS or Malaysia, then use Air Asia to bounce around a bit. Doesn't cover Eastern Europe but they do the rest.
