Where to get a good pizza

Recommended Posts

No cheese is ever made in Thailand? The cows and the know how is only available abroad? clueless

Yes, that's roughly right. Except you left out the reason for that, too, and the reason is "no market". Do they grow rice in Europe? Do they have a lot of black chickens there? Do the Italians make chow mien long-life noodles?

And also, yes.

Clues are freely available on this question in any supermarket.

Well walking down the dairy section in Carrefour you might not believe that.

But try offering a piece of cheese to a Thai, and if you can get them to try it, the look of disgust at the taste might explain the lack of a market.

If I fly back here via Amsterdam, my fridge is as well stocked as Carrefour.... at it is all MINE!! :llaugh

My TG loves cheese, and if you get out of Pattaya, you will find many Thais have acquired a taste for cheese, just as they acquired a taste for pizza. I have had several conversations with Thais about cheese in stores like Tesco and Big C. The younger generation is not as set in the old ways as you may think.

Yes, the exception to prove the rule.

I don't live in Pattaya so getting out of it is pretty easy.

If anything, I expect the taste for cheese to be more acquired in Pattaya.... (Think about this now.... take your time!)

So how did these rural Thai people acquire their taste for cheese? Last time I checked in Nakhon Nowhere, the rural fat Thai lady store didn't carry it. Even the 7-11 down the street only carries that disgusting processed stuff plastic wrapped in slices.... not cheese really! It may have caught on with a few richer Thais who dine at the Bangkok hotels and European restaurants, those that have taken vacations in Italy etc. But if there was the market, it would be made locally, in quantities.

For eating out, I still like Globetrotters in the little soi between Pattaya Klang and Soi 7 as the taste and price is right. Plus it's close to the beer bars too which makes for a pleasant evening overall. Look for the bright yellow and blue colors as it's a Swedish restaurant

When I order in, I like Pattaya Pizza as they're simply excellent if slightly pricey. They're the only place that reminds of Scoby's before that place shut down some time last year.

I had 2 slices of the combo yesterday at Costco.Excellent and far better than anything I've tried in Land of Filthy Diesels. And just $9.99 for an entire huge pie.Judging by the size and cost in LoD,the equivalent would have been at least $20 there and inferior quality. The food court makes better pizzas than the deli-go figure.

I was a fan of Pattaya Pizza from two previous trips but last nights pie was tasteless. They must be going cheap on the ingredients as this place has slipped many notches IMO.
