LHR - BKK Mar-10 for £387

Recommended Posts

Was looking at a trip in March during the rugby 6 Nations and just booked with Qatar for £387. Booked direct on Qatar so could select seats too (but not meals for some reason). Arrive Fri. 12-Mar and leave Sun 22-Mar so Welsh games at 9.30pm Thai time on both Saturdays.

GR.

Trouble is ,Im on the sick now so cant really check for sure that Ill get the time off! Should! be OK though! So I think I will book it on Monday anyway! Only trouble is Ill be going with the missus.so she likes to stay in Bangkok for the first few days.......! I think Ill have to come up with a cunning plan to go to Patts Saturday morning so I can watch the Welsh game in Pattaya!

Goodluck with the Qatar Airwais flight. My 1st trip from LHR-BKK, was with Qatar, never again. As a 6 foot tall person, they had the worst legroom you could imagine.

I'd rather pay another £150 instead of going through that torture 4 times (stop-over there and back). Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Food and on-board entertaiment were'nt so bad.

Which airline are you going to pay an extra 150 quid to? Or did you mean an extra 1,500 quid? :rotflmao

Just seen the chart. I fly thai airways now. It lists that Qatar is 33"-34" and thai is the same at 34" flying economy. Seems odd.

Remembering the Qatar flight, i never got a tape measure out but i was so cramped. The on-board computer was placed underneath the seat meaning i could barely put my feet underneath the seat in front, instead i had to sit upright most the time.

My first experience with thai was with an old plane, Oct 08, no in seat entertainment. The legroom was fantastic, if not unbelieveable in comparison. Sorry if your 'legroom chart' doesn't agree with my personal experience. I guess it may depend upon which plane is being used at the time.

On my last return trip from BKK-LHR, thai airways used a new plane. OK, in seat entertainment and less legroom than the older plane but still, allot better than the Qatar experience.

Like i stated, i would rather pay £504 thai airways that i did (5weeks to takeoff), in comparison to £387 with Qatar with a stopover at Doha.

It's not my legroom chart - it's a published seat pitch chart (seat pitch and legroom are not the same thing). Unfortunately, if you want IFE you're going to get the control boxes under a good proportion of the seats. The Thai A340-600 that you flew on to London has them as well. The seat pitch on the Thai 747 (and A340-600) used on the London route is identical to that offered by Qatar - 32-34 inches, depending on your seat. Maybe you got a seat with a 32" seat pitch on Qatar and 34" on Thai. It could just as easily have been the other way round.

I can appreciate your willingness to pay more for what you found suits you. I'm quite happy to pay 800-900 quid more so that I don't fly in Qatar's economy class.

Thai's 747 economy class.

I'm only 5'8" (1.73m) so I don't experience the cramped conditions that you lanky guys do. :D I must admit I do appreciate the split flights as 10 hours plus is very tiring but 2 x 6 hours I find much more comfortable.

Depends on the airline, aircraft type, the IFE system that's installed and whether the seats are part of a "double" or "triple" set.
