Have just visited the Areca Lodges website for next year. Cheapest Room in LOW season 1,300b per night. Now that is crazy. You can get better for less everywhere at that price. Why are they pricing themselves so high? Is it greed? Are they trying to attract a different sort of customer? Perhaps I am a becoming a cheap Charlie but I am not booking a month (or a night) at that rate.

Most probably their published rack rate.

From there they can then give 20 - 50% discounts which makes the prices look cheap and a bargain.

cheers

It's simple. If you don't like the price, just stay elsewhere. In any event, there's no reason to pay 1300 baht in Pattaya.

You must be having a senior moment, the rates for next year are the same as this year, no increase at all !

In fact the Executive Room price is dropping by 200 Baht.

A discount is available if you stay for a month (March-October) as it clearly states on the website.

Areca website rates are what you actually pay when you book direct, a slightly better rate may be available from AtSiam.com

There's no reason? Some people want to stay at the Marriot. Up to them. Some people want an 800 baht room. Up to them.

To the op, Areca has nice pools, especially the one out back, serves meals and has large, comfortable beds. To many it is worth 1300.

I do not recommend the place. There were no drawers in my room to unpack my clothes and the laundry I sent out smelled like horrible perfume. After many washings back in the states I still have vacation clothes with that lingering odor.

Other cheaper choices very close.

I stayed at the Pasadena Lodge in August. My only complaint was the hot/cold water in the shower was hard to control but I enjoyed the room. No food offered and no pool.

Irish Rovers is next door but I have not stayed there.
