Singapore Air JFK - BKK $981 RT

Recommended Posts

Seems kind of high.Isn't Thai cheaper?Only PAID $788 RT on EVA with taxes. That's out of LA.You New Yorkers usually get a better deal than us left coasters.

I've always seen the LA/west coast costs as lower than east coast; remember, almost all airlines fly west to LOS.

981 for SA with taxes is a great price these days, IMO. Top 3 airline every year.

The JFK-SIN route is via Frankfurt. It's the EWR-SIN route that is non-stop.

Nice price. I doubt that you get frequent flyer miles with this fare.

That layover in Frankfurt is like 9 hrs if memory serves me correct... eek!

Much better off with a Cathay Pacific flight through HKG with a short layover. Flights in the low $900 range are easy to find.

ANA just ran a special for $910, but I think that's over now.

If you want a cheap flight out of NY and are not bothered by a long layover or an extra stop, try doing it the old fashioned way with a travel agent in Flushing/Queens/Chinatown. Some of them come up with some crazy cheapo prices to Asia. Chinese and Korean guys I work with always laugh at the prices I pay for a flight. Then they tell me about the $600-700 flight they just booked, but, when I ask them how many stops or how long the layovers are they don't have a a friggen clue as all they care about is the price. Some of their prices include room and "massage". I also understand that some of these "rooms" are actually IN the massage parlors of Hong Kong. Have not quit figured out how it works out to sleep and leave your luggage in a massage parlor, but I guess they make it work. Anyway, if you can find a really cheap flight to HKG, Air Asia will get you to Bangkok even cheaper.

If you plan on staying on Koh Samui it's now easier to book a cheap flight to Hong Kong and use Bangkok air to fly direct to Koh Samui.

Great airline, but if you don't qualify for UA frequent flyer miles it's not a good price. I'm paying less for my Nov trip and I accumulate enough FF miles for 1/2 of a free trip. On top of that UA is running a promo where you get double elite qualifing miles so 1 R/T and you qualify for premier status and more than 2/3 of the way to premier elite.
