2010 World Cup - South Africa

Recommended Posts

I have occasion to go to S. Africa for the World Cup.

I know some people who are from there, and I'd have a place to stay.

With that said, it's dangerous as fuck, I'd need a bunch of vaccinations, and it's a long flight from the states.

Anybody have any thoughts on S. Africa?

How's the mongering, for one....

I have lived there for almost 40 years and just packed up to move out BEFORE the world cup! Merchants are licking their chops in anticipation of unwary visitors whom they can rip off unashamedly. Prices have already rocketed even 2 month before and even criminals are starring on TV boasting how they will rob tourists in order to make up for colonialism. Polticians are singing : Kill the farmer (white settlers) and according to the government its all ok as its part of their "struggle culture"! They just slaughtered a right wing farmer ( still, didn't deserve to die like this) in the most savage manner.

Besides of crime and bad and expensive service, the infrastructure does still not offer any decent public transport and roads are in a mess due to pre world cup contruction which was grossly misscalculated. Liberals will tell you its safe to use Black operated minbus taxis but you have a good chance to land by the side of the road in you underpants!

Thats it from me, obviously a very bitter ex resident who is devasteted by the downslide of the country!

Precisely what vaccinations would you require? I've been there 5 times and never needed one!

Hi,

You racist! I bet SA will be in a similar position to Zimbabwe soon.

You are absolutely correct! No vaccs required though its imperative you use malaria tablets for low lying bush areas north and northeast. Oh, and don't let me forget, CONDOMS! If possible two or three at a time, best would be a Condom Suit - strange that nobody has designe one yet! :allright

SA Whites should be so lucky! Although Zim has slid into absolute poverty and chaos, the crime rate is comparatively low! Uncle Bob still believes in the death penalty so Zimbabwe criminals rather travel to South Africa where the new "democratic" regime shows great tolerance for black people commiting deeds in protest/revenge of "Colonialism"!

Your resident Racist :allright

Its in Africa. That's enough to keep me away.

One of the most narrowminded posts here in a long time.

I've been to the past 4 WC and will skip this one-just too far to travel and I've visited Africa a few times already.I'll make the next 2 WC for sure. After those,I'll probably be too old to travel and enjoy them like I do.
