I have occasion to go to S. Africa for the World Cup. I know some people who are from there, and I'd have a place to stay. With that said, it's dangerous as fuck, I'd need a bunch of vaccinations, and it's a long flight from the states. Anybody have any thoughts on S. Africa? How's the mongering, for one....

I booked a night here through asiarooms on my last trip. I had heard some mumblings about a possible joiners fee at this place, but didn't think it possible due to location. Got to the hotel and first, they attempted to bait and switch my reservation. I had booked a room, 2 pax, as is my custom when travelling alone, and they told me I would have a room with 2 small beds. I told them I wanted a room with 1 bed but for 2 persons, and they tried to upsell me on a different category of room. I pointed out my reservation stated I could get a room with 1 bed for 2 persons, but I was told this would not be possible at the asiarooms price. I could have a room with a big bed if I coughed up some more dough. On top of that, they said that unless I could produce the second occupant on the spot, I'd be assessed a joiners each time. Long story short, I got out of the reservation and ended up elsewhere. Asiarooms customer service is pretty good. Big hassle. Why bother when there are so many places to stay in Pattaya that don't have any joiners?

Tiger Airways for me...

Starting at $0.00... Given 30 years... At 6.00% interest, compounded annually.... It would take an annual contribution of $11,932.93 for those 30 years to reach $1M, starting at 0.00. $11,932.93 at $20 bucks a pop is 596.65 times/year. One can venture a guess that her husband wasn't her only customer.

Thank you for your hospitality this past trip. The combination of beers and cold medicine did not do anything for my connect four skills with your girls, but I did get home in one piece that night. Thanks again! Next time I'm in town, I'll be back again. -
Ride Share: BKK - PTT, 1st Dec. 8:00 PM -
lajimmy replied to lajimmy's topic in Meeting - Cost sharing
Dr.M, I did see your post, and that you arrive 12 hours before me. Killing 12 hours in order to go to Pattaya to save 600 baht or so, could be the worst torture imaginable, so I figured you would not be interested. -
Anybody want to split cost on a taxi from BKK to Pattaya on 1 December 2007? My flight lands just before 8:00 PM. Then it's off to Pattaya. I've already booked a taxi, so I thought I'd post and see if anyone is interested in shooting some shit for a couple hours.

Not to downplay, but it is my understanding (from watching the safety videos on airplanes for as long as I can remember safety videos existing on flights) that the bag itself will not inflate, despite providing oxygen. Trying to make the bag inflate/deflate by taking huge breaths will indeed result in hyperventilation. The videos always say to breath normally despite the bag not filling up with oxygen.

Mexico is a big place. Food in one part of Mexico is nothing like food in another part of Mexico. Bug27, ribs are Mexican. There are many different styles of "costillas" served throughout the country. There are probably hundreds of thousands of varieties of salsa, ranging from the type that eltib describes to that which is more smooth, like a puree. On top of that, Mexican food served in America is a whole different species of animal. Furthermore, depending on the part of the country you live in (California vs. Texas for example), your concept of what Mexican food is will be quite different. And just because a Mexican is cooking the food doesn't make it Mexican either. I've not gotten the jonesing for Mexican food in Pattaya, as it seems a little incongruous, but I did see a few Mexican restaurants around, including the ones mentioned above, so there must be people who crave it.

Has ANYONE made it through?

Well, did he make it through the challenge, or not?

Thanks for the great pictures! Seems like a hell of a party. That picture reminded me of the scene in Star Wars where Obi Wan is teaching Luke to use the force with the training remote, and sticks a helmet on his head so he can't look at the ball.

The New Bob's BBQ & Grill Reopens on Soi LK Metro
lajimmy replied to BobsBBQ's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I'm a BBQ fan, so I will stop by the next time I am in town. LK metro isn't the first place that jumps to mind when I think of BBQ, but I suppose I will follow my nose. -
Clark is also an option if you are going to Angeles City. Not too many carriers use Clark though.

Maybe someone from LA has seen Thai Elvis? I don't know which restaurant he's in, but would like to find out.
