Uncle Sam needs you to join the army

Wattnott Talent Agency (you can look us up at Facebook also)

We need many extras for a big second world war movie. Shooting will be in Rayong. You must be MALE, between 18 to 35. Look like a soldier/marine (so reasonably fit). Be willing to cut hair to military crew cut. People must be willing to stay in that area for a prolonged time (couple of weeks to a couple of months, we ...do not know exact details yet). Also we do not know the budget yet. Shooting starts around May 15th.

If you are available to go there for an extended period of time, please email us at:

wattnott.extras@gmail.com (PLEASE USE THIS EMAIL ADDRESS NOT OUR REGULAR ONE). Also if you are in our database already please write to that mail address to tell us that you would be available.

Regards, Walter and Peter and Yim

Lol trying to find expat extras fitting that discription - needle in a haystack I reckon. Most of them in Rayong are well over 35, fat, bald and about as fit as a cream cake :beer

Your never to old .... just for this particular one :beer ..... usually we have a load of stuff ongoing in this time of the year .... it is just that the Bangkok mayhem canceled a lot of commercials and movies. The only problem for everyone outside of Bangkok is though ..... that your outside of Bangkok 2guns ... all the castings are usually done in Bangkok and when a production shoots outside they usually take everyone (including the extras) with them from Bangkok. Only in case of a really big production, like this one, will they look outside of Bangkok close to the location as well!

Now we do have some people from Pattaya, Ratchaburi, Hua Hin, Khorat etc in our database but those people are willing to come all the way to Bangkok for castings! Now if any of you is willing to do that, you can send a mail to: wattnott.talent@gmail.com with pictures of yourselves, age, height, weight, race, build, eye colour, hair colour, special skills. And in that case age, sex and build dont matter as there are usually castings around for all different bodytypes/ages. A casting doesn't guarantee you get the part though 1luv .....

We have a hardened ex military man here, BigDusa, he would fit the bill I reckon. let me know if you are ever remaking the hunchback of Notredam, and I will make myself available.

I'm curious about how the permit to work is handled for these extras. I assume they are legally allowed to work as extras in a film. Is there some temporary work permit that allows this or what?

No work permits are given. Tax is being deducted though and paid. Usually a signed copy of the passport is required to go with that. That is the usual way nowadays. Even for the larger speaking roles no work permits are issued. And most of the foreign crews do not have work permits. Even on big productions like Alexander, Shanghai and many others. These movies used close to a 1000 are more western extras!

It used to be that no one paid taxes, but that has changed in the past 3-4 years or so. Maybe in the future we will get work permits for this kind of work as well.

So far I have never heard about problems regarding this. Sometimes there are a few police officers on the set to help keep people of the set that are not involved in production.

This is all handled by a Thai production company. They make the necessary arrangements, if you catch my drift. There are no work permits or anything like it -- but there are ALSO no hassles for anyone involved in the movie production. If you catch my drift.

Being a movie extra in Thailand is one of the world's worst jobs, but on the other hand it's extremely poorly paid. The highlight, actually, is that you get to stick the paltry cash money in your pocket without worrying about little details like work permits and the like. It *is* an experience so I wouldn't actually discourage anyone, but don't expect any of that tinsel to rub off. Later you get to buy the DVD and if you have a good slow-motion feature on your remote, and you're fast with the thumb, you can stop the movie on the frame where you appear, and impress your family and friends.
