Walked past this place on my last visit in April, looked quite a nicely done out restaurant. Just wondering if any BMs can give any reviews / share experiences on this place, was going to give this place a try next time i'm in town.

The theater organized its Grand Opening on July 9. The Natayasala Puppet Show is under the patronage of the late H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, who wished to revive traditional Thai puppetry and preserve this ancient art, as well as making it an important showcase of Thai cultural heritage to Thai and foreign audiences. The Puppet Show features one of Thailand's top

puppet masters and the country's last 'Grand Master' of small puppet performers. The puppet theater deceided to set up a project called the “Natayasala Small Puppet Show in Divine Place South Pattaya”, to promote this ancient art in Pattaya City, the world’s best tourist destination.

I pulled the above off the internet. Sounds like a fun place to take a BG for an evening out. I'll check it out in September.

The theatre was located in Suan Lum Night Bazaar (I thought it wasn't due to close for another few weeks). It was a nice place to spend an evening as one of the adjacent bars is one of the few places I've found in Bangkok that sells Warsteiner before moving onto the free show in the main Beergarden.

 

Does anyone know if this is indicative of the expiry of the other leases in Suan Lum being enforced?

I understood that the troupe simply couldn't afford the rent, and its departure was a singular event, not connected with anything else. It was announced some time ago.

 

But I could be misremembering. I now see a Nation blog from last February which doesn't really settle anything:

 

"Our days here are numbered and I think we have less than two years before we have to go," Pisutr says. "We are working on this issue, to see to where we can relocate. That's also partly why we opened the restaurant in Pattaya."

 

So maybe it's still in Bangkok as well. The Pattaya one opened a year ago.

Agreed. I watched it (in Patts) about a year ago with my barfine for the evening. We both enjoyed the show over cocktails, but not food. I remember that the bill was hefty.

The one at Suan Lum Night Bazaar was still operating as at the weekend of 3rd/4th July when I was there.

It was the place that could have more refreshing air and make some relaxation. he restaurant could have more portion to make the customer satisfy. The Thai restaurant are famous restaurant all over the world.

Joe Louis is dead. So to speak.

 

This week we will have to say goodbye to Joe Louis Theatre (Natayasala) in Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Incidentally, the bazaar itself has become dead, after losing a long-standing court battle with its landlord.
