Colombian Soccer Match

Recommended Posts

First, if the owl was some sort of mascot, why was it allowed to fly around free during a match? Did it have a handler? Couldn't someone have put it in a cage or something? :clueless

Second, why didn't they stop play and get the owl off the pitch before it got hit with the ball? It's not like it's a small hummingbird or something. It's a pretty big bird. Somebody had to see it land on the field. We know it wasn't because everybody was distracted by the thrilling soccer action going on at the time. :chogdee Hell, the owl landing on the soccer field and then getting kicked was probably the most exciting part of the match.

Third, Luis, you could have used your hands and picked him up. "Uh, what are hands?" Oops, forgot, you're a soccer player. :clap1 At least Luis didn't try to head-butt the owl off the pitch.

Michael Vick got prison time for being involved in dog fights. This guy got a 2 game suspension. WTF? :clueless

Hi,

The Argies really know how to get stuck in.

Football fight sparks 36 red cards

The match between local rivals Claypole and Victoriano Arenas descended into mayhem in the second half as players, technical staff and even fans were involved in the bust-up.

In the ensuing chaos referee Damian Rubino decided to give every player from both sides their marching orders. Some backroom staff also saw red.

After the game, which ended 2-0 to Claypole, the Victoriano manager accused the official of overreacting, saying he had been "confused".

Colombian Soccer Match, Owl Murdered

And there was you, claiming soccer is boring.

Although I do think that hitting a bird in flight with a thrown ball like Randy Johnson did is a hell of a lot more challenging than kicking a sitting owl.

This is quite mild for Colombian football.

Andres Escobar was shot for scoring an own goal in the game against the USA at the 1994 World Cup Finals.

At least Randy Johnson's incident was an accident.

Funny that a sport with so little action on the field is associated with so much violence that isn't related to the actual playing of the game. :chogdee2

That was the official story. Randy still sticks to it, but I know he has his fingers crossed behind his back.
