If I saw a great jeezly lobster at exactly the moment I was thinking, Wow, it'd be great to have lobster tonight, glad I have 4,000 baht in my pocket, then that lobster would be mine, yum-yum. Not only on holiday, but especially on holiday.

 

The OP stipulated he had the money. He's not an animal rights guy. He hankered after that lobster, and days later he was still thinking about it. He was afraid that maybe perhaps he could get a better deal. And then he didn't go to get a better deal. Joe suggests that he considers that a bit crazy. Have the darn lobster!

No No No. You've got it all wrong. My point is I couldn't justify spending more for a lobster in Thailand than I would back in the USA. And I do eat a lot of lobster, so its not like I feel like I missed out. Also did not want to possibly pay the 'farang' price. I was quoted 3000baht for the damn lobster. Its just food.

 

Ever wonder why Indians are so cheap in Pattaya? Because they don't make as much money as Westerners and everything is cheaper in India than Thailand. That's why they can't justify spending big like some of us and they get stereotyped.

I had never visited pattaya restaurant. But I think you have paid more than normal price for seafood.

Last year in Boracay, PI, we had 4 prawns 1 kilo (2.2 lbs) $25, took them across the street and had them grilled with garlic plus 4 beers $20. The cook told us the the prawns would have cost him about $7 a kilo.

 

WE had dinner at King Seafood about 8 years ago, good food and not too expensive at that time. Remember they have tablecloths and knives forks and spoons.
