Got a bit of a road trip coming up on my next visit, now I`m not too bad at navigating in farang land but I was considering buying a cheap sat-nav just in case.

Question is where in Patts can I buy one and would it be easy for a farang to use, ie: have English language :clueless

What kind of phone do you have? You can download Tom Tom Thailand if you are on Iphone. ( Free with Jailbroken phone!)

I used a Thai language Sat-nav on my last holiday. It is really not that bad as long as long as you have your home base clicked and the destination. I went from Nong Bua Lamphur to Dansai(?), Just turn left a Loei and keep driving. I think it was a 3 or 4 hour drive. I don't know who bought her the Vigo, but it was a nice truck. Overall, it worked like a charm and when we got close, my friend made a call to get the final bit of information.

For those who have not tried... I recommend taking a driving tour to some of the less explored places. It can be nice and relaxing.

Buy any of the cheap Garmin Nuvi series at home and have the Thai ESRI map installed on it here, or if you are computer savvy, you can download and install the map on your computer at home.

I'm not in love with Garmin but the Thai ESRI maps are designed for Garmin units. I have four Garmin units and the ESRI map works on all of them. It is available in the English or Thai language. The ESRI map is the best Thailand map available. Garmin sells one called South East Asia that includes Thailand but it sucks.

Here is the link for the pirated download:

PM John1000, he bought a Garmin unit at home, and the map software here in Thailand. He borrowed someone else's last trip, to travel around and liked it so much that he got his own unit this trip. He is in Pattaya right now and has the info with him.
