My tirak wants to fit 3 windows and 1 door out in her 3rd floor apartment. (apparently more expensive to do the 3rd floor?) Anyway, her estimates keep going upwards at an alarming rate. Anyone help me out with an estimate?

Wouldn't have to post it daily if it wasn't deleted every day for no good reason. And for the response you get on this forum these days, particularly during it's current fragmentation i probably shouldn't have bothered. just not worth the effort any more. for what it's worth, i found the answer myself, and if anyone is interested the cost for 3 window panels and a security door ranges from B7000 to B18000 depending on quality.

Ram, your topics were being deleted BECAUSE YOU USED ALL CAPS - I believe.

MM hinted to it a few times. This one should stay as you've corrected the problem.

With the prices you've quoted I would look to one of the MANY steel fabrication places around and take photos with you of what you want (close/detailed pictures of examples), the areas you want to cover (close pictures of each wiodow and door) and a list of dimensions for each. Take a fluent Thai speaker with you and make sure they understand what you want first.

Many of the steel fabrication places do work so cheap that I don't even consider doing stuff like that myself now unless it takes less than 10 minutes. As an example of one that I use I got a fully built trailer (for our jet-ski) with all attachments and fittings for fractionally more than your top quote. That included dipping the whole bloody thing for galvanising so it's sea-water proof! The cost of raw materials here is surprisingly cheap and labour is next to nothing.

There are loads of these places around Pattaya - contact me via PM if you want some recommendations for ones that I've used or call one of the contact numbers in my links.

Cheers :gulp: Admiral Ken

Still trying to help despite some BMs

PS If you really need help this is no longer the best board to go to - pity but true. Try Secrets - you'll still get some useless responses but there will be more helpful ones than not. Maybe the General Forum (open to everyone) should be "flame free" then PT won't look like a bunch of wankers to the browsing public. (That'll get me into trouble LOL)

Thanks Ken. I appreciate that. :thumbup I believe that she was compelled to use only contractors on the developers approved list, which sounds about right for Thailand.

Yeh, i got a pm from mm regarding the capitals. As for rectifying the problem, well. I DON'T THINK CAPITALS ARE A PROBLEM. At least, not on any other forum in the known universe. Still, it's my ball and i'm going home and all that! I stand suitably admonished :crying: I should be horsewhipped for it really i guess. Maybe i should insist :whistling:

just joined up, and i make you right. This board does seems to be stalling of late. Shame really because i've enjoyed being on here for the last 4 years or so, but nothing lasts for ever.

I'm in town in a couole of weeks. It would be nice to buy you a beer and pick your brains on a few points. I'll sms or call you and see what your diary is like at the time. :chogdee
