Hi There

It's been 7 years since I last visited the LOS - last time I visited Pattaya I stayed the the Queen Vic on Soi 6 and thoughly enjoyed it - the service and food were good and ther served English beer which is a pluas as far as I am concerned, without wishing to get into an arguement only the English cab brew good beer closly followed by the Belgians.

Think the manager when I last visited was a guy called Bert, very knowledgable and helpful.

Looking at reurning later this year but heard that the Lord Nelson might be a better bet as far as accomadion is concerned, anyone like to offer an opinion as to which is the best establishment and which you prefer and why.

Also last time I stayed the Queen Vic sent their mini bus to pick me upo from the airport, do they stoill offer thsi service and does the LOrd Nelson offer a similar service.

Thanking you in anticiaption of your help

Many thanks

Pat

Bert has opened his own bar and guesthouse around the corner from soi 6. It's called Tropical Bert's. When I'm in Pattaya I eat there almost every day and Bert serves good pub grub. I haven't stayed there but I did go take a look at the rooms. Good accommodations and I've only heard positive things from guys who have stayed there.

Queen Vic is still the pick of the 2 even if the meal sizes have been markedly reduced (my major cripe). They continue to have their shit togther, probably more so than your last visit 7 yrs ago (if thats possible). I have stayed at the Lord Nelson a few times when the Queen Vic was full, staff are friendly, rooms were ok (nothing great) and location was good. Downside is that they dont serve food, maybe this has changed but last time I was there about a year ago the only thing on offer was microwave pies or pasties (if my memory seves me correctly). Used to be a small group of regulars that drank there and did not seem to get many new customers coming in off the street, so pretty dull in there. All this may have changed (I have not been in there for a year) as one of the original owners died a bit over a year ago. I have never been to tropical Berts but have spoken to people who drink/eat/meet there, so it seems to have a fair client base (which would indicate its doing something right).

I regularly stay at the Queen Vic, and it wins hands down. They still operate the airport pick up service, although last year the mini bus was out on a trip but they arranged a taxi for me and it was a cheaper option, so all good. They have refurbed a lot of the rooms and have expanded somewhat since your last visit. book it now and say hi to Vic (boss). :chogdee

  • 2 weeks later...

never stayed at lord nelson and never had the urge, but have stayed at queen vic and had nothing but praise, decent rooms, facilities, food and reasonably priced, with vic being a good host, plus not far to stumble back after enjoying the ladies on soi 6 hahahaha

cheers
