Suggestion for first trip

Recommended Posts

I am planning my first trip to Thailand sometime next month.  I was wondering if you knowledgeable men of the world would recommend that I spend time in Bangkok or head straight for Pattaya?  I will have about 3 days in LOS and then head to the Philippines for 3 weeks and then finish up with 5 or 6 days in LOS before heading home.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated by this Thailand cherry boy.

thanks

Hi Bat

This has be a much debated question for some time with a lot of discussion for and against.

Personally, if I only had 3 days in LOS I would head straight to Pattaya.

This is my 5th trip next month and most of it will be spent in Pattaya and maybe a couple of days in Bangkok.

Have a great trip

Dave

Irishman's suggestion is the best advice!  And, yes, I would spend a little time in Bangkok.  There are some great places to visit.  Been there, done that.  In Pattaya there is more excitement, IMHO.   Roy

Everybody has their likes and dislikes.

Heres my 2 Baht worth on this.

Spend more time in Pattaya cause its cheaper.

Bangkok has more Gogo Bars but Pattaya has more beer bars.

Dont get me wrong i love them both but pattaya is better for the price.

If I had only three days, I would stay in BKK and forget Pattaya. Your wasting your short time traveling back and forth. More pussy in BKK then you or I can handle. BKK is alot of fun. Check out  www.bkktonight.com for accurate up to date info. When you come back then go to Pattaya for the six days. I would suggust the www.majesticsuites.com   hotel in BKK. Guest friendly with in room safe, clean and your in the middle of everthing about 1k per night. Nana is right around the corner. Beergarden on soi 7 is across the street. Lots of freelancers that are good to go for 500 s/t and 1000 l/t with no barfine. Guilvers is on soi 5 another place with a/c, excellent pool tables and lots of freelancers. Soi Cowboy is 15 minute walk from your hotel. Annie's massage is down the street from Nana Hotel. Follow my suggustions and you will have a great time. Three things I don't like about BKK, traffic, air pollution and it cost about 20-25% more then Pattaya.

Thanks for all the replies.  I am honestly thinking of going straight to Pattaya and skipping Bangkok.  I hate big cities and prefer a small town atmosphere.  I usually skip Manila and go to Angeles or Puerto Galera or somewhere.

Looking forward to hooking up with some of you guys for a drink or 10 in a month or so.

thanks again

I assume you actually have some good reason to go the the PI?  Otherwise, I can't imagine anyone wanting to go there instead of Thailand. It's a pit. In any event, I think I'd stay in Bangkok at first if you're only going to be there for three days.  There's a lot to do there.  At the end of your trip, I'd go to Pattaya for 5 or 6 days or whatever.  That's long enough to get into the groove of things.  It's too bad you're stuck going to the Phillipines.

Bat why not spend the first 3 day's in BKK  then go to PI for 3 weeks and spend the last 6 day's in Pattaya, this will give you the chance to sample all the best delights of S.E. ASIA .

That would be my suggestion too

Best of both worlds

I have a lot of friends going to the PI in Oct.  Since this will be my first trip to Thailand I want to take a look see first and then I imagine I will be going there instead of the PI every 6 months.

I personally like the Philippines.  But I have never experienced Thailand.

thanks for all the responses [smiley=grin.gif] [smiley=grin.gif]
