mobile phone & place 2 make call to USA questions

I hope someone will be able to answer my question here as I see lots of good information and this is one of the few borads that i visit  regularly.

 

I have a Sony-Ericsson T68. The only problem is the SIM code is locked for AT&T in the USA only. I know that I can get my phone unlocked at MBK. Can someone please tell me if they know of a place that can perform the same service for me in Pattaya. Also I plan on  using the 1 2 call pre paid cards if that makes any difference.

 

My second question is I need to make a important call to the US while I'm over there can anyone recommend a quite place where this can be done?  Or is it possible to dial to the USA from my mobile phone once I get it hooked up?

 Mrt, when i need to call back to the U.S. i usually just go to this place on soi postoffice about halfway between beach rd and 2nd rd. The phone is in the back and private. Only 25 baht per minute in the air con. For me beats sweating big time in a booth. Hope this helps, Cheers, B-Man!

before you switch your phone  over. chek out nextel world wide. i used it like home phone in usa. work  in chiang mis kho sumia pattaya all over los. it work great for all local calls too. if you travel to los alot might be worth a look see. rate is 55 us.  ;D ;D

My TG too me to the first floor of the Big C Mall on Second Road ... there is a mobile centre there which sold SIMS and could unlock phones for use on the Thai network: In the end (beciasue I was worried about a/screwing up my UK contract and b/the risk of having my UK works mobile nicked), I bought a pay-as-you-go cheap Nokia ... it worked a treat and I've had it unlocked for use here in the UK as my back-up - killed two birdies with one stone. BTW, any spare units you have on your LOS contract exoire after 3 months so mine run out in about 8 days   Pity I can't re-route them to my TG's phone and keep her happy.

Anyways thank you to all for your info.  That's one of the reasons I love the internet complete stranges helping each other.  I ended up getting my phone unlocked in the states and it was a good thing i did because it's so new that i can't find anything for it in Pattaya.  Case, Battery , Etc.  Everyone loves it but there's nothin for it.  I did go to Big C to get my starter kit tough .  And my phone works.

 

Re: Place to make call to the sates....  I can make calls to the states from my mobile phone but and connection is clear but sometimes calls can get dropped i'm told.  So this is what i did When I was in the states I bought a AT&T calling card for $30.00 which gives me 500 mins.

All you need to do is go into any Hotel and ask them to be connected to a ATT trunk line usually 100-180 baht.  Or You can use any Lenso (sp) international phone. (the Yellow ones)  I had to place my call at 3 am I just walked in to Royal Garden Plaza and placed my call .  

 

So if your coming to thailand from the states that's what i'd recommend the AT&T card for .06 a min you can't beat it.
