food and drink on singapore airlines

Why do they need a fuel stop 2 hours after they take off? The flight is 6800 miles and there are routes from North America to Asia that are longer by over 1000 miles. I see, it is not a fuel stop. They sell this route ex-Munich to Singapore as a non-stop.

SG has a great reputation for service, especially in Business or First. Here are reviews on Skytrax

Singapore would be my choice but their Biz Class prices are way up there. The fact that they can price themselves so far above the competition says they have a faithful customer base. Pity about the stop in Germany. Two stop-overs is just wasting time for me.

Even when I flew them economy I found the on board service good.

I flew from Melbourne to Singapore and then BKK last year. In economy I was offerred JW Black, french wine and even cocktails. Food was spicy noodles etc and the beer was Tiger. Gorgeous hostesses and great service. Business or first class must include a ST or a BJ.

It does but the price breaks the famous 1000 baht rule! Edited by jacko

I have booked MAN to Singapore for 1st April.

I believe its a 13/14 hour flight plus 1 hr re-fuel in Germany.

Any info please on food and included drinks, standard, frequency etc would be very appreciated.

Cheers

I fly economy and chose Singapore this time for a change from EVA. The plane was fine but in economy I'd say it was not appreciably different from what I'd expect on any other airline other than JAL.

I have flown Singapore Airlines a couple of times and their service & food are first class and the flight attendants arn't too hard to look at either.

One thing to note, if you are flying from Germany to Bangkok the flight goes from Frankfort to Singapore and then you change planes for the leg to Bangkok. Unless you just like to fly this is not the most efficient route to Bangkok. On the leg from Germany to BKK you pass by BKK in route to Singapore and then have to fly back to BKK from Singapore. With a stop in Singapore changing planes ect. you will end up wasting probably 4 hours that you could be putting to better use in Pattaya. Been there & done that.
