I agree but Samsung JUST signed a multi million dollar settlement with regards to poor quality leaky capacitors. The major motherboard manufacturer's tout high quality Japanese capacitors on their websites because they ran into major problems a few years ago with leaky caps. Generally speaking poor quality leaky caps don't go bad right away. Many times the product is out of warranty when the problem occurs. I recently purchased a 55" LG. When I was doing my research. I ran across numerous complaints about Samsung and leaky caps.

I recently bought an LG monitor.... didn't even last 9 months before failing.....

Won't buy LG again...

Still have 3 of them and I gave the oldest one to my parents and they are all working great.

Do you not like your parents enough to splurge out on a new TV for them ?

Just thought i would give an update.

I bought a 42" led LG TV from Big C extra on Sunday ,cost 17,990.

I have had it 3 days and already it has a fault.Everytime i connect an HDMI lead from my laptop to the TV, after about 30 mins the TV freezes up.Just in the same way a PC does sometimes. The remote wont work and even switching off on the set wont work. The only thing i can do is unplug it.

Fuckin piece of Shit.

Got 7 days to take it back before i have to deal directly with the service centre.

Sorry to hear your running into problems. Have you updated the firmware? My LG worked great out of the box but LG has updated the firmware a couple of times. If it was me I'd take it back and get another one. Years ago I had a Toshiba was dead out of the box. Got another one and it has run perfectly for years.

Can i update it myself or is it a professional job?How do i know if it needs an update? The problems happened a couple of days a go but its been alright since.I was watching movies through my netbook connected to tv and both times it froze was when someone telephoned me and i paused the movie, then when i went to play again it froze.I am now thinking its just a problem with the netbook in that i am trying to make it do too much too quick.I have watched about 6 movies since then just to keep trying it and it seems fine if i give it time to sort out what its doing.I have still got 2 more days in which to return it.I dont really want all the hassle as ive already hung it on the wall.I will keep using the HDMI sockets for 2 more days just to see.It is guaranteed for 2 years also. Updating the firmware is easy. My TV came with a wireless dongle. It was easy to connect to the internet and update the firmware. Using your remote go into the setup section and update the firmware. You may have to update the firmware a few times. Go on Amazon. Plug in your LG model number and read the customer reviews. Same goes for the AVS forum.

One other thing. If you like to watch movies. I'd recommend buying a Panasonic DVD player. Your netbook may be causing the problem.

Everything you wanted to know about Samsung capacitors. Even how to fix them yourselves in 15 minutes.

By the way, plug those electrolytics in backwards and it makes for a really cool show.

I treated myself to a 42" Samsung lcd a couple of years and as good as it is I wish I had waited for the leds to drop in price

Sony 40" LED I bought from Numchai last month is brilliant, only 17,990bht.
