I'm looking for recommendations for a removalist to take household items from Pattaya to Udon Thani - actually about 20km outside of Ban Dung.

The original contents consumed a complete 40' container but I would prefer to split it into 2 x 20' containers and purchase the containers.

Stuff would need to be packed into boxes and the condition of the containers should be fair to good (no leaks or structural faults, don't care about colour). The containers will be converted later into a workshop so they just really need to be watertight and not ridiculously expensive. There is no need to unpack at the other end, just drop off the containers (stacked) and leave.

There seems to be a few places around but to date the ones I've tried only speak Thai and my better half is somehow convinced that the cointainers are for us to live in (why we are building a house and she thinks this is beyond me but SHE IS THAI)

The idea is to transport everything in the containers and leave them secured while we finallise things here, then move items into the house at our leisure. It will also prevent theft in the village as trying to steal a heavily locked and secured container will be pretty suspicious (particularly when they are stacked 2 high) - they also won't fit in the back of a Toyota pickup and as the locals don't tend to run around with angle grinders, they're pretty safe from vandalism - hell I don't care if they paint them so long as it's tastefull.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Cheers :gulp: Admiral Ken

PS If someone knows where I can get the containers only that would also be appreciated.

I'm sure Fondles has lots of contacts - if not, these folk do re-cons.

What a great idea though! Instead of building a house on wifey's land, just get a handful of containers and kit them out. When wifey eventually does kick you out, simply pick up the containers and fuck-off somewhere else. Cool! :thumbup

Shit I've been caught out LOL - never put all your eggs in one basket and always plan an exit strategy where possible.

Thanks for that Tom

Judging by Fondles unwarrented comments I'd say his avatar is probably more knowledgable than him.

You could try www.pattayashipping.com a tennant of mine used this company to send all his furniture etc back to South Africa and he said they were the cheapest and did a good job

Thanks Mick. I have talked to this lot and they just didn;t seem interested. I got the impression that they had a bad experience in Pattaya because as soon as I mentioned it obstacles started to appear that weren't in the conversation a few minutes earlier.

Cheer :gulp: Admiral Ken

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face - if he can save you a few satangs, go for it! :thumbup

Removalist? I've never heard that word. At first, I thought it was some sort of a subset of Expat.

I was thinking of something a whole lot more exotic than that--perhaps something akin to a body Snatcher.

Obviously English is no longer the primary language in the US for some :bhappy

Websters (removalist) : The word you've entered isn't in the dictionary. Click on a spelling suggestion below or try again using the search bar above.

Interestingly a Google search for "Webster removalist" yields results for removal and the following little gem from Google immediately under it:

Seems that some of the larger US corporations haven't abandoned English as yet. :thumbup

if you do a google search for "removalist", every single entry on the first page is an Australian domain, so it seems your term is more of a provincial Australian one than a part of the English language. In fact, there isn't one reference for removalist in England or the UK.

Who's not writing English then?

Hmmm seems it is an English term :whistling:

Yes, the fact is that it is used in Australia, but that doesn't preclude it from being of English origin or from being in active use in ENGLAND (see above snippet for proof)

Australian English follows the PRECISE spelling, gramatical and syntactical rules as modern English (thw written forms, which is what this is about)

Australia did not attempt to "recreate the language" in some distorted image bypassing spellling (Webster, later to be Miriam-Webster, i believe) and liberalising some grammar and syntax so that no-one could normally be accused of being incorrect.
