Who would have guessed? Not in my lifetime ...

Recommended Posts

I think that could have easily been forecast. They were selling lifetime memberships for very cheap prices. Once most of the members have a lifetime membership how does the company pay the overhead?

I really think they are guilty of out and out fraud. I'd bet that the company executives still have fat bank accounts.

Yup. This one was baked into the cake years ago. Couldn't walk past their gaff in The Avenue without being hassled.

She: "Hello seuh, join fitnet club mai?"

Me: "Do I look like I give a shit about fitness?" :llaugh

LOL. My local gym is on the 6th floor in a 44 floor condo building. Lots of tarts jump in the elevator to go to the gym and then spend an hour on the stepper machine (tuned into their ipod or whatever they use nowadays for music). Any suggestion that they'd be better off doing a couple of ascents/descents of the fire escapes isn't particularly welcome though.

It would also be a safe bet to say there cars are the ones parked next to entrance of the building .

California wow had an escalator to the second floor next to the stairs. I was the only person that I ever saw use the stairs. It always amazed me that people would use an escalator to go exercise.

They also ripped me off on their "lifetime" membership. I had to pay 300 baht a year after the first year. They don't bill, or remind you as you walk in that your membership is about due. 30 days after it is due, they tell you that you can no longer use the gym unless you buy another "lifetime membership" There is NO negotiation, buy another membership, or go away.

I'm not sad to see them go. The people out front harassing me as I walked by was a pain in the ass. I talked with one of the trainers one day at Starbucks. He said that he hadn't been paid in 3 months. He was Australian and his work permit was tied to Calif.wow so he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. His choice was demand to be paid, and be thrown out of the country, or work for free and hope that he would someday be paid.

They are not gone yet. Better re-read the article. People with bad knees or lower back or hip problems are advised not to use stairs unless necessary and still can use recumbent bikes or elliptical machines. If you have to pay a fee every year it is in your contract. Many gyms in the U.S. do the same with lifetime memberships to pay operating costs. AS usual with health and fitness issues the ones commenting seem to be the ones that don't use it.
