I am a Canadian citizen who was in Pattaya in January and have 2 return trips booked back, one in March and another in April. I am looking to lease or buy a bar in Pattaya and would appreciate any information that anyone could provide to me. My main concern is if I can actually work in the bar or do I have to sign into a lease with the government or some other agency in Thailand. I am interested in a GO-GO bar and if anyone knows of any for sale or lease, I will be back on the 10th of March, please e-mail me any information that may be relevant, thanks in advance, chuck

Chuck,

Talk to Pete when you're in town.  I'm sure you could pull him aside some night in FLB and have a candid discussion.

BTW, it seems the fastest way to become a millionaire in Pattaya is to arrive as a billionaire.  Be careful what you sink your money into.

I hope this is just a troll. With the questions you ask, don't even think about it. NOBODY who is not native to Thailand will make a profit in the bar, Gogo biz, especially at the moment.

A friend of mine knows the owners of Ann's Bar and recently emailed me that he was going to sell it.  I think he did ok financially but it was a bit of a committment because he felt he or his wife had to be there all the time.  He didn't find anyone he felt he could trust to help run it.  It looks like an interesting business but there appears to be a bit more than at first meets the eye.

Chuck, Can you say competition????  I am a business man who has owned bars in the states as well as many other types of business and with all businesses you must be concerned with the competition.  What do you or will you offer that will make people come into your bar or gogo that isn't offered at the other 1000 or more bars and gogos in Pattaya?  Check out how long falang owned bars stay in business in Pattaya.  They go up for sale months after purchase and the tourist industry is down big time this year.  IMHO you should try selling snowballs in Canada instead.  dad
